영문 초록

Purpose: To describe clinical manifestation of 5 subjects with diagnosing as optic disc drusen complicated by peripapillary subretinal hemorrhage. Case summary: All 5 cases were teenagers (mean; 15.2 years old, 12-19 years old) with sudden onset peripheral visual field blurring. All patients had mild to moderate myopia (-3.38 ± 1.32, -5~-1.75 diopter) and no other history such as ocular trauma and ocular surgery. None of all patients had significant decrease in visual acuity, relative afferent pupillary defect and color vision abnormality. In the fundus examination showed swollen optic disc with hemorrhage and peripapillary subretinal hemorrhage. The subretinal hemorrhages was located in optic disc nasal or superonasal area, and optical coherence tomography revealed that subretinal hemorrhages touched with optic disc drusen. 2 patients combined with breakthrough vitreous hemorrhage from subretinal hemorrhage. Optic disc of the other eye had small diameters and buried pattern drusen. In all cases, hemorrhage was spontaneously absorbed without any complication after 1-2 months later, and maintained normal visual function. Conclusions: Fundus examination and optical coherence tomography were helpful in the diagnosis of optic disc drusen complicated by peripapillary subretinal hemorrhage. Subretinal, retinal, and optic disc hemorrhage associated with optic disc drusen were absorbed spontaneously without complications.
