바이오헬스산업의 기술혁신 결정요인 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 바이오헬스산업 현황을 살펴본 후 ‘한국혁신조사(KIS 2016): 제조업부문’ 과 KISVALUE 자료를 이용하여 바이오헬스산업의 기술혁신, 제품혁신, 공정혁신 각각의 결정요인을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 바이오헬스산업은 혁신주도적 산업으로서 고용 및 부가가치가 증가하고 성장기여율도 상승하는 등 그 중요성이 점점 더 커지고 있다. 실증분석 결과를 보면 기술혁신의 경우 매출액 계수는 양(+)이어서 기업규모 확대에 따른 혁신 촉진이라는 슘페터 가설이 성립하며 매출액 제곱은 음(-)이어서 매출액 관련한 역U자형 곡선(inverted U-shape) 가설도 성립하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구인력비율은 기술혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만 시장집중도는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 산업이 집중되면 될수록 혁신이 촉진된다는 슘페터 가설이 성립하지 않음을 의미한다. 정부지원 활용은 10% 유의수준에서 기술혁신에 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 정부지원을 확대할 필요가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 제품혁신의 경우도 연구인력비율이 혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 수출집약도도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났는데 이는 수출지향적 바이오헬스산업 육성 및 수출과 혁신간의 선순환구조 구축 필요성을 시사하는 것이다. 공정혁신의 경우 매출액 및 매출액제곱이 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타나 슘페터가설이 성립하지 않으며 시장집중도는 공정혁신에 부정적 영향이 있음을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine the determinants of the three kinds of innovations (e.g. technological innovation, product innovation, and process innovation) of the biohealth industry in Korea by using the Korea Innovation Survey 2016 and financial statement data. The empirical results of the study show that in the case of technological innovation, while the sales coefficient is positive and statistically significant, sales squares is negative, implying that an inverted U-shape hypothesis is held. The research personnel ratio has a positive effect on technological innovation, but the market concentration is insignificant. One of the important variables government support has a positive and statistically significant at a significance level of 10%, meaning that it is necessary to expand government support. In the second case of product innovation, the research personnel ratio has a positive effect on the product innovation, and export intensity also has a positive effect, which implies the necessity of fostering the export-oriented biohealth industry and establishing a virtuous cycle structure between exports and innovation. In the third case of process innovation, sales and sales squared are not significant, indicating that the Schumpeter hypothesis is not held, and market concentration has a negative impact on process innovation.
