국문 초록

본 연구는 근현대 전환기 유학자의 사회관계망 분석과 시스템 구축을 위한 방향을 제시한 시론적인 글이다. 식민지배와 함께 한국은 탈유교사회로 전환되었다. 식민지 근대는 전통의 해체를 요구하였고 전통의 해체는 유교문화에서 벗어나는 것을 의미했다. 그럼에도 전통적 유림이 유교문화를 배척한 것은 아니었다. 사회가 근대사회로 재편되는 과정에서도 유학자는 사회관계망 형성을 통해 유학의 계승을 놓지 않았다. 탈유교사회 속에서 삶을 영위한 유학자들의 사회관계망 분석을 통해 근대 한국사회에서 유교의 본질과 위상이 어떠했는지 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다. 이 연구를 통해 조선 유학의 지형도를 분명히 할 수 있고, 근현대 유학 연구의 패러다임을 바꿀 수 있을 것이다. 아울러 현대 한국사회에서 유학이 가지는 다양성을 이해할 수 있다. 나아가 탈유교사회에서 유교문화가 가지는 규범성이 파악하고 21세기 건강한 한국사회를 위한 유학의 기능을 제시하게 될 것이다. 사회관계망 분석은 유학자의 개인 문집에서 관계형성자를 추출하는 것에서 출발한다. 사회관계망 분석은 시계열적으로 재배열되어야 하며, 유학자의 지리 정보와 인적 네트워크 형성의 관계를 밝혀야 한다. 유학자와 관계를 맺고 있는 사람들과의 관계 밀집도를 파악하기 위한 증거 자료를 제시해야 하며, 관계의 위계성 여부로 검증되어야 한다. 유학자 사회관계망 시스템에는 기본적으로 근현대 유학자뿐 아니라 일반 사람들의 인적 정보가 축적되어야 하며 출처정보가 함께 제공되어야 한다. 이를 위해서 시스템은 인명DB와 출처DB를 중심으로 설계되고 유학자 상호 간의 관계를 설명할 수 있는 유형 분류와 기술(記述) 내용이 함께 연구되어야 한다. 또한 불특정의 두 유학자가 상호 어떻게 연결되는지를 분석해 시각적으로 제시할 수 있어야 한다. 근현대 유학자에 대한 정보는 전근대보다 상대적으로 파악하기 어려운 내용이 많다. 따라서 시스템은 확장과 변용이 가능하도록 설계되어야 한다.

영문 초록

This paper is a kind of an essay to suggest the directions to analyze social networks of Confucian scholars in modern and contemporary era and construct the appropriate system for the study. With the beginning of Japanese colonial ruling, Korea became a post-Confucian society. The colonial modern times required deconstruction of Korean traditions, which forced Korea to get out of its Confucian culture. However, traditional Confucian scholars didn’t exclude their Confucian culture. Even in the process of reorganization as a modern society, the scholars didn’t give up inheriting Confucianism constructing their own social network. Through the analysis of their social network in the post- Confucian society, it is possible to examine the essentials and status of Confucianism at that time. With this study, we can understand the topographical map of Joseon’s Confucianism more clearly, and change the studying paradigms of modern and contemporary Confucianism. In addition, we may understand the diversity that the Confucianism has in contemporary Korea. Further, understanding the canonicity of Confucian culture in the post-Confucian society, we can suggest the functions of Confucianism for the healthy Korean society for the 21st century. The social network analysis begins from extracting relation-promoters from scholars’ personal anthologies. Social network analysis should be rearranged according to time series, and the geographical information of each scholar and the relations of personal network formation should be clarified. Further, corroborative data to understand the relation density among scholars should be suggested, and they should be verified upon the hierarchy of relationships. In the Confucians’ social network system, there should be included human information of both modern and contemporary scholars and common people, and the information of the sources should be provided as well. For this, the system should be designed on the basis of the database of names and their sources, and categories of types and description explaining mutual relationships among scholars should be developed. In addition, how two unspecified scholars could be linked should be analyzed and provided visually. In fact, information of modern and contemporary scholars is rather difficult to get than that of premodern scholars. Thus, the system should be designed to be expanded and changed more easily.
