간독첩과 간찰서식집 서발문을 통해 본 간찰에 대한 제 인식

국문 초록

본고는 간독첩과 간찰서식집의 서발문(序跋文)을 통해, 간찰에 대한 인식이 어떻게 변화했는가를 통시적으로 살펴보고자 한 글이다. 본고에서는 먼저 간독첩에 실린 서발문을 통해 간찰에 대한 사대부집안의 생각을 정리하였다. 간독첩은 받은 간찰을 묶은 것이다. 간독첩의 서발문을 통해 조선시대 사대부계층은 학맥·집안·교유관계에 있어, 간찰 사용을 심도있게 고민하였다. 또한 간독첩이 간찰서식집 형성의 전 단계로서 큰 의미가 있다는 것도 확인할 수 있었다. 다른 종류의 문헌 기록과 마찬가지로 간독첩은 대체적으로 임진란 이후에 다수가 확인된다. 이후 간찰은 실용적 성격을 인정받았고, 문학 장르의 한 형태로도 발전하였다. 그 이면에는 명대 간찰문화의 직간접적인 영향이 있었다. 간찰서식집 서문은 “한문필사본-방각본·활자본-순한글본”으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 한문필사본 간찰서식집을 통해 간찰을 매우 중시했던 당시 인식을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 간찰을 도(道)의 구현물로 생각한 것은 매우 주목할 만한 것이었다. 방각본·활자본 간찰서식집은 대체로 세교(世敎)와 계몽(啓蒙)의 입장에서 접근하였다. 방각본은 여항인 층에서 편집된 경우가 많았고, 사대부의 서문을 받고, 간찰서식집의 권위를 높이려고 하였다. 순한글 간찰서식집은 조선 후기부터 있었지만, 서발문이 보이는 것은 일제강점기에 집중되었다. 주로 계몽적인 내용이지만, 인류사회의 구성원으로서의 자신의 역할을 고민한 점은 매우 흥미로운 변화였다. 뿐만 아니라 이 시기 작성주체에 있어 신여성과 학생이 등장하는 것도 매우 주목해야 할 문화현상이라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined longitudinally how perceptions regarding letters changed by looking into the prefaces and epilogues of Gandokcheop(Book of Letters and Poems) and Ganchalseoshikjip(Book of Letters). First, I identified from the prefaces and epilogues of Gandokcheop thoughts shared by gentry families of Chosun dynasty. It was identified that gentry families pondered over the relationships of academic circles, family ties and social networks. Gandokcheop is mostly found for the latter period of Chosun, particularly after the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592(Imchinlan). Afterwards, letters became recognized as a type of literature genres going beyond its practical character. It is considered that the culture of letters in Myung and Cheong dynasties of China had a direct influence upon such development of letters in Chosun. For the prefaces of Ganchalseoshikjip, I looked into three different types of it: manuscript in Chinese characters; manuscript by private publishers during latter period of Chosun(Banggakbon); manuscript printed in oil paper materials(Yujibon); manuscript in Korean characters. From the manuscript in Chinese characters, it was identified that the importance of letters was consciously emphasized. Of particular, what attracts our attention is that letters were recognized as an output of moral and religious cultivation. On the other hand, letters were approached in terms of lessons learnt from living life and enlightenment. The manuscript of Banggakbon was mainly edited by Chosun’s middle class and prefaces written by gentry class, this being interpreted as an intention to secure an authority of the manuscript. The manuscript in Korean characters was found extensively for the period of the Japanese Occupation. Mainly, it touched upon the issues of enlightenment but it also discussed the roles of people as a society member. It was identified that women as well as students became a significant author, which is a well deserved cultural phenomenon for our attentions.
