제주학의 연구 동향과 과제

국문 초록

제주지역에서는 1960년대부터 제주학에 대한 관심이 태동했으며, 대학 연구소, 민간 연구기관 등에서 개별적·복합적 연구를 담당해 왔고, 특히 2011년 제주학연구센터 가 설립되면서 지역사회의 이슈가 되었다. 따라서 이 글에서는 제주학연구센터 의 역할을 고려하여 제주학의 전반적인 연구 동향을 간략히 살펴보고, 과제를 도출해 보고자 했다. 지금 제주학의 연구 동향과 과제를 점검하는 것은 연구주제와 연구자 등의 분포 관계를 파악해 보고, 연구주제의 쏠림현상도 검토해 보는 기회로 삼기 위함이다. 논의 대상으로 삼은 자료는 학술연구정보서비스에서 검색할 수 있는 범위 내에서 1970년대~2011년에 발표된 제주학 관련 석사·박사 학위 논문 207편만을 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 즉 인문과학 분야 131편, 사회과학 분야 26편, 자연과학 분야 50편 등이다. 제주학의 연구 동향 분석 결과 제주학이 전 영역에서 다양한 주제가 연구되려면 제주학 관련 자료 구축, 연구 분야의 균등화, 연구자의 저변 확대, 연구자간 교류 활성화 등의 과제가 해결되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Showing interest in Jeju studies from the 1960s, university and private institutes in Jeju have been in charge of individual and complex researches. Especially Jeju Studies Center established in 2011 became a point at issue in Jeju. Therefore, this paper is to consider the role of Jeju Studies Center , to look into its overall research trend briefly, and to draw forthcoming issues. This is to grasp the distribution relation between the researchers and their subjects and to check out a tendency toward a peculiar research subject. The 207 master degrees or doctorial dissertations related to Jeju studies and issued in RISS from 1970 to 2011 are used as primary data for this paper: 131 ones in the humanities, 26 in the social studies and 50 in the natural sciences. Consequently, material gathering in relation to Jeju studies, equal and expanded research, expansion of researchers, and active communication between the researchers should be solved to research various subjects of Jeju studies comprehensively.
