국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 교육의 인간화를 위한 하나의 단초로서 실존철학과 불교적 관점에서 각성의 개념을 고찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 각성의 교육적 함의를 탐구하는 데 있다. 실존철학과 불교적 관점에서 인간 존재는 비본래적 상태에서 언제든 본래적 상태로 전환할 수 있는 가능적 존재이자 자각적 주체이다. 인간은 각성을 통해 비로소 새로운 차원의 삶으로 비약할 수 있으며 진정한 자기 자신으로 거듭날 수 있다. 이렇듯 인간 존재 양식의 전환점이 되는 각성은 의식의 비약적이고 단속적인 질적 전환으로서 본래성에 대한 자증(自證)이자 본래적 가능성에 대한 명증(明證)이다. 본 연구에서 탐구한 각성의 교육적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자각적 주체로서의 인간 이해이다. 둘째, 비연속적 교육형식의 중요성에 대한 강조이다. 각성은 우연적이고 불확실한 실존적 특성으로 말미암아 교육적 기술로 명확하게 제시되는 것이 사실상 불가능하다. 그럼에도 불구하고 고유한 존재가 일깨워지는 순간적인 체험은 한 사람의 인생을 새로이 개시(開示)하는 유일회적인 전환점이 된다는 점에서 교육에서 필히 고려되어야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of awakening from the perspective of existential philosophy and Buddhism as one fodder for humanization of the education and to explore educational implication of awakening accordingly. Human beings are possible existence and having capabilities of realizing themselves who can convert from inauthentic state to their original state at any time from the perspective of existential philosophy and Buddhism. Human can leap into a new level of life and become true themselves when realizing themselves. As such, the awakening that is the turning point of human being mode is a swift and intermittent qualitative conversion of consciousness. That is, it is a one s own evidence for authenticity and clear evidence for intrinsic functionality. The educational implications of awakening explored in this study are as follows. First is a human understanding as a conscious subject. Second is an emphasis on the importance of discontinuous educational forms. With the existential characteristics of being accidental and uncertain, the awakening is virtually impossible to be presented clearly with the educational skill. Nevertheless, momentary experience that awakes the unique being should be considered in the education in that it is monolithic turning point that starts a life of a person newly.
