교육공간의 성격 규명과 교육위기 극복방법 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 Arendt의 교육공간 이해를 바탕으로 교육공간의 성격을 여타의 공간과의 관계 하에서 정립하고, 현재의 교육공간이 어떤 위기상황에 처해 있는지 그리고 이 위기를 극복하기 위해 어떤 노력을 해야 하는지를 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 첫째로 교육공간의 성격을 아동이 사적 영역에서 공적 영역으로 이동을 해가는 통로, 즉 매개기관으로 규정하였다. 둘째로, 교육공간의 성격에 대해 이해한 바를 토대로 현대사회의 교육공간이 공적 영역의 권위 상실과 사적 영역의 노출로 성장을 위한 안전지대가 분실이라는 두 가지 위기를 겪고 있음을 설명하였다. 셋째, 이 위기를 극복하기 위해 교육공간은 아이들에게 세계가 어떤 곳인지를 가르쳐야 하고 아이들을 세계와의 관계 속에서 성숙하도록 보살펴야 하며, 학생들의 관계성 회복이 가능하도록 안정적 공간을 확보해야 함을 제안하였다. 또한 교육공간은 아이들이 이야기를 통해 사유하고 판단하는 행위하는 공간이어야 하며, 행위할 수 있는 자유를 주고 용기를 내도록 북돋아 주는 공간이어야 함도 제안하였다. 넷째, 결론으로서 교육공간이 이와 같은 속성을 지니기 위해서 교사가 어떤 역할을 해야하고 어떤 자질을 갖춰야 하는지를 탐색하였다. 또한 이 연구의 논의가 실제 교육현장에서는 어떻게 발현되고 있는지를 실증적으로 확인하는 후속연구, 그리고 학생들의 사유와 판단능력을 함양시킬 수 있는 다양하고 구체적인 교육활동을 개발하고 이를 적용하는 후속연구를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This article aims to establish that nature of educational realm in relation to other realms focused on the paradigm about realm of Hannah Arendt, and to investigate that why present education are in crisis and how should we try to overcome the crisis of education based on nature of educational realm. First, this study to establish that nature of educational realm as mediate process to move from private realm to public. Second, it explained that current education was going through two crises, as loss of authority in public realm and loss of safety realm by private realm exposure, based on the view that educational realm as mediate process. Third, for overcome the this crisis, we must make educational realm that have to teach students what the public realm is like, and protecting students from public realm, and educational realm is meant to be a safe place for recovery of relations between students. Also we must make educational realm that have to active realm for students as thinking and judgment by telling their story, giving freedom and encouraging to act. Fourth, in conclusion this study suggest what role should teachers play for educational realm have such characteristics, and what qualities a teacher should have. Also, this study suggest that confirmed qualitative study how it s going in the actual field of education, and applicative study that developing and applying varied educational activities for cultivate students ability of thinking and judgment as follow-up study.
