국문 초록

한국어 형태소의 이형태 교체 조건은 음운론적 조건과 형태론적 조건으로 구별하는 것이 일반적이다. 이중 쟁점은 형태론적 조건과 주로 관련되는데, 이 연구는 첫째, 형태론적 조건 중에서 특정한 형태나 어휘의 출현이라는 조건 이외에 특정한 문법적 기능이 조건이 되는 교체 현상이 범언어적으로 관찰되고 있음을 유형론적으로 고찰하고, 둘째, 이를 토대로 한국어에서도 문법적 기능 차원의 의미적 조건은 이형태 교체를 결정하는 조건이 될 수 있음을 검토한다. 이때의 문법적 기능 차원의 의미적 조건은 순수 어휘적 의미 조건과 구별될 필요가 있으며 음운적 조건과는 명확히 구별되는 문법적 조건이다. 문법적 기능 차원의 의미적 조건은 통사론적 조건 등으로 다루어지기도 하였으나 본고에서는 관련되는 이형태 교체 현상들이 형태론적 맥락을 벗어난 것은 아니며 문법적 의미 기능에 의한 것으로 풀이될 수 있으므로 형태의미론적 조건이라는 개념을 도입하고자 하였다. 최근 한국어 문법론 연구에서 유형론적 접근방식의 필요성이 강조되고 있고, 이와 같은 흐름이 근래 들어 더욱 분명해졌으나 형태론 분야에서는 제한적인 부분에 그치고 있는 듯하다. 이 연구는 한국어 형태론 연구에서 유형론적 접근방식을 통해 얻을 수 있는 통찰이 무엇인가를 보여주는 한 사례라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

It is common to distinguish between two types of phonologically conditioned alternation and morphologically conditioned alternation in Korean. First of all, this study examines typologically that alternation, which is a condition of a specific grammatical properties, is observed cross-linguistically. Second, based on this, it is argued that the semantic condition at the level of grammatical properties in Korean can be a condition that determines alternation. Semantic conditions according to grammatical properties are distinct from lexical semantic conditions and are grammatical conditions that are also distinct from phonological conditions. The semantic condition of the grammatical properties was also treated as a syntactic condition or a syntactic-semantic condition. However, this study tried to introduce the concept of a morphosemantic condition instead of a syntactic condition because the alternation discussed is due to the semantic condition of grammatical properties.
