영문 초록

Objectives : V Yakchim(VYC) has been used as a pharmacoacupunture to treat inflammation and reduce pain in clinical fields of Traditional Korean Medicine. However its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity have not been fully studied yet. The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of VYC. Methods : anti-oxidant effect was investigated by using 2,2-diphenyl-1 picryl hydrazyl(DPPH) free radical scavenging activity. To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of VYC, cyclooxygenase(COX)-2, tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α and interleukin(IL)-6 were measured. In addition, cell viability of VYC was investigated. Results : VYC(1 ㎍) showed 3.8±2.8% DPPH free radical scavenging activity. VYC(10 ㎍) showed 71.8% COX-2 inhibiting capacity. And VYC reduced the formation of (TNF)-α and IL-6. In addition, VYC did not showed cell toxicology. Conclusions : These results showed that VYC has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
