초등 교원 양성 기관에서 강의와 교육 실습의 연계 방안: 미국의 PDS 적용을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 미국의 펜실베니아 주립대와 그 지역 교육청 사이의 연합에 따라 운영되고 있는 PDS의 사례를 고찰하고 한국의 초등 교육에서 대학 강의와 실습을 연계하는 방안을 도출하여 제시하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 먼저 두 개의 실습 반, 학교별 인턴 조, 인턴 회의, 멘토 회의, PDA 회의, 세미나로 구성되는 PDS를 지탱하는 협동적 구조를 제시하였으며, 1년에 걸쳐 진행되는 다양한 PDS 실습생의 활동과 실습기간 중 수강하는 사회과 교육, 수학과 교육, 과학과 교육, 학급 경영, 세미나 및 실습의 주요 목표와 과제와 평점을 제시하였다. 그리고 PDS가 한국 초등 교육 실습에 주는 시사점과 PDS에 토대를 둔 대학 강의와 교육 실습의 연계 방안을 교직 영역과 교과 교육 영역으로 나누어 제시하였다. 교직 영역에서 교직 과목 4-5개와 수업 실습Ⅰ을 3학년 1학기에 함께 배정하고 연계하여 지도할 것을, 교과 교육 영역에서 여러 교과 교육Ⅱ와 수업 실습Ⅱ를 함께 3학년 2학기와 4학년 1학기에 배정하고 연계하여 지도할 것을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study was aimed at investigating the professional development school maintained by the partnership between Pennsylvania State University and State College Area School District and at suggesting ways to integrate university lectures and teaching practices in the Korean elementary teacher education. First, the author presents PDS support structures, including two methods cohorts, building cohorts, intern meetings, mentor meetings, PDA meetings, and seminars. Second, the author delineates activities that a PDS intern goes through over a year from Jump Start and In-service Days in August to meeting with students and beginning to work with mentor teacher in September, to developing and practicing classroom management skills in October, to designing and implementing lesson plans in November, to reflecting on the growth as a teacher in December, to co-planning and co-teaching with the mentor teacher in January-March and to beginning full time teaching responsibilities. Third, the author shows major goals and assignments of such courses as Teaching Social Studies, Teaching Mathematics, Teaching Science, Classroom Learning Environment, and Seminar. Finally, the author makes suggestions to place 4-5 courses in Elementary Education Requirements and teaching practice Ⅰ together in the first semester of junior, to place several teaching method courses and teaching practice Ⅱ together in the second semester of junior and the first semester of senior, and integrate those lecture-based courses and practicum in the Korean elementary teacher education.
