국문 초록

공연은 시공간적 제약이 있고 물리적인 형태로 존재할 수 없는 특성을 가진 현장 예술이다. 또한 인간의 정서와 감정을 정화 시키는 기능이 있다. 이 기능이 축제 관객에게 적용될 경우 정서와 감정을 소통 시키는 도구로 활용된다. 공연예술 콘텐츠의 구조와 기능이 세계적으로 검증된 에든버러 축제의 기반이 되었다. 이에 본 연구는 축제 콘텐츠로 활용된 에든버러 공연예술의 구조와 기능 탐색에 의의를 둔다. 탐색의 대상으로 공연예술 축제인 ‘에든버러 인터내셔널 페스티벌’, ‘에든버러 페스티벌 프린지’, ‘로열 에든버러 밀리터리 타투’에 주목하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 공연예술 축제의 배경과 특성을 고찰하고 다음은 공연예술 축제의 기능과 구조를 활용한 축제 운영 방법을 모색하였다. 마지막으로 공연예술 축제 콘텐츠 개발과 활용 연구에 기반이 될 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 했다.

영문 초록

Performances are sort of field arts with time-space constraints and characteristics that cannot exist in physical form. It also has the ability to purify human sentiment and emotion. When this function is applied to festival audience, it is used as a tool to communicate these feelings. The city of Edinburgh has developed the world-proven premier performing arts festival by applying the structure and function of the performances. Based on those two characteristics of the performance content used as a festival, this study aims to explore the structure and functions of the performing arts festival. As the object of the study, ‘Edinburgh International Festival,’ ‘Edinburgh Festival Fringe,’ and ‘Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’ were closely looked into. To carry out the study, firstly, we looked into the formation and background of the performing arts festival and also its structure and functions as performance contents. Secondly, we sought ways to analyse the festival. Lastly, this study provides an opportunity to support the researchers on the development and utilization of the festival contents.
