칼뱅과 재세례파의 교회론 연구

국문 초록

16세기 유럽은 중세사회에서 근대로의 이행기에 있었다. 이 시기 중세의 교권주의와 가톨릭의 도덕적 부패에 대항하여 종교개혁이 일어나고 있었다. 종교개혁자들은 교회와 국가에 대한 기존의 가톨릭의 질서를 비판하고 새로운 관계를 제시하였다. 그러나 16세기 재세례파들은 종교개혁자들의 국가교회를 비판하고 신약의 원시교회로 되돌아갈 것을 주장하였다. 그들은 국가로부터의 교회를 분리하였다. 그리고 심지어는 신자들의 공직참여를 금하기도 하였다. 그들은 신자들만의 세례를 주장하고 유아세례를 부정하였다. 그리고 일부 혁명적 재세례파들은 천년왕국 사상을 바탕으로 무력으로 천년왕국을 이루려고 하였다. 이에 대항하여 칼뱅은 재세례파의 무정부적이고 폭력적 성향을 비판하였다. 그는 교회를 신자들의 영적질서를 위해 필요하며 국가는 신자들의 세속적 질서를 위해 필요한 제도로 보았다. 그는 국가의 권위에 순종할 것을 요구한다. 다만 통치자의 권위가 하나님의 명령을 거부할 때 신자들은 국가에 불순종할 수 있다고 한다. 또한 신자들에게 파수꾼을 사명과 예언자적 사명을 강조하기도 한다.

영문 초록

In the 16th century, Europe was in its transition from medieval society to modern times. In this period Reformations were taking place against medieval parochialism and Catholic moral corruption. Reformers criticized the existing Catholic order of the church and the state and presented a new relationship. However, in the 16th century, Anabaptists criticized the State church of Reformers and insisted on returning to the primitive church. They separated the church from the state. And even prohibited believers from public service. They insisted on baptism of believers and denied infant baptism. And some revolutionary Anabaptists tried to build a Millennium by force based on the idea of a Millennium. In opposition to, Calvin criticized the anarchic and violent nature of the Anabaptists. He saw the church as necessary for the spiritual order of the believers and the state as a necessary system for the secular order of the believers. He demands obedience to the authority of the state. However, it is said that believers can disobey the state when the authority of the ruler refuses to orders from God. They also emphasize the mission of the watchman and the mission of the prophet.
