영광 불갑사 약전차(藥錢茶) 제다법 고찰

국문 초록

본고는 지금까지 우리 차계(茶界)에서 주요 차산지로 주목받지 못한 영광지역 차군락지와 불갑사(佛甲寺)에서 전승되는 ‘약전차(藥錢茶)’의 제다법을 고찰하였다. 더불어 역사적 문헌과 관련 자료를 바탕으로 우리나라 떡차 제다법을 살펴보았다. ‘약전차’ 제다는 전통방식으로 불갑사 불교대학 다도연구회원과 목포대학교 국제문화·산업연구소가 공동으로 진행하였다. 영광지역은 우리나라 서남해안을 연결하는 중요한 거점으로 각종 물산이 풍부하여 매우 번성했던 곳이다. 역사적으로 차 토공(土貢)산지에 포함되었으며 현재에도 여러 지역에는 야생차가 산재하고 녹차와 전차를 생산한다. 불갑사 ‘약전차’는 뿌리 깊은 역사성뿐만 아니라 다른 지역 떡차와 구별되는 제다법으로 이를 복원하는 일은 전통차의 원형을 발굴하고 제다법의 다양성을 확보하는 의미가 충분하다. 이는 차에 대한 소비자들의 긍정적인 인식으로 소비 확대를 위한 다양한 상품 개발이 무엇보다 중요하기 때문이다. 또한, 그동안 잘 알려지지 않은 영광지역 차의 역사와 차산지를 재조명할 수 있었으며, 사찰에서 오랫동안 자가용으로 음용한 불갑사의 약전차에 대해 새롭게 조명할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 본 연구를 기반으로 영광지역의 지역적 특성을 바탕으로, 미래사회에 부응할 수 있는 지방특화산업과 국가 차원의 차문화산업으로 발전이 수반되어야 하는 필요성에 이바지 하기를 바란다. 더 나아가 체계적인 과학적 연구를 통한 약전차 제다 조건(온도, 시간, 형태, 크기, 품평 등)의 연구 필요성을 제기해 본다.

영문 초록

In this paper, the author visited the tea habitat of Yeonggwang that had not been known as major tea-growing district in our tea world until now and studied the Yakjeoncha tea(藥錢茶) manufacture that had been passed down in Bulgapsa(佛甲寺). At the same time, this paper analyzed our Tteokcha tea manufacture based on historical literature and related data and proceeded 「Yakjeoncha」tea manufacture jointly with Bulgapsa Tea Ceremony Research Society and Mokpo Univ. International Culture and Industry Research Institute. Yeonggwang is an important foothold that connects our southwest coasts and flourished as it was rich in various local products. Historically, it was included in producer of tea tribute and even now, wild teas lie scattered and green tea and Jeoncha are being produced. Our tea world(茶界) needs to expand the scope and variety of tea by utilizing various tea manufacture methods. It’s because it is most important to develop various products for expanding consumption by having consumers see teas in a positive way. 「Yakjeoncha」of Bulgapsa Temple has not only deep-rooted history but also tea manufacture method that is distinguished from other Tteokcha. Thus restoring this has a sufficient cultural meaning in discovering the archetype of our traditional tea and securing diversity. In this respect, it is realized that there is a need to develop the specialized industry of the local area that can match the future society and the cultural industry at the national level based on the regional characteristics of Yeonggwang.
