일본다실 대암(待庵)의 공간구성이 다도 정신에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

센 리큐가 만든 것으로 전해지는 교토(京都)의 야마자키(山崎)에 위치한, 묘키안(妙喜庵)에 있는 대암다실은, 일본 최고(最古;1582년)의 다실인 동시에, 센 리큐 작(作)으로는 유일한 현존 다실이다. 니지리구치(躙口)가 설치된 다타미 2첩(二畳)의 매우 작은 방으로, 일본 국보로 지정되어 있다. 그 다실 내부에 들어가 보면, 매우 기이할 정도로 협소하게 느껴지지 않는다고 한다. 이렇게 작은 다실이 답답하게 느껴지지 않도록, 공간의 협소함을 해소하기 위한 구성들은, 첫째, 다실의 벽은 거뭇하게 착색된 토벽으로 되어 있고, 토벽으로 둥글게 칠한 무로도코(室床)와 창문을 여러 개 내어서 빛의 연출이 가능하도록 하였고, 둘째, 천장 일부에 경사면을 두었으며, 니지리구치를 만들었다. 셋째, ‘와비사비’(侘·寂)한 미의식을 추구하도록, 재료의 본질을 그대로 살려 자연스러움을 강조하였다. 한편, 극소다실은 주인과 손님 간의 거리가 대단히 가까워, 정말로 서로의 마음 상태까지도 알 수 있을 정도로, 매우 긴장된 관계를 만든다. 이러한 긴장 속에서 주인과 손님의 마음이 일체가 되어 다사가 이루어지도록 하였다. 이와 같이 작은 다실을 만든 목적은 리큐의 이상인 와비차를 실현하고, 맑고 고요한 내면의 정신적인 미를 추구하고자 하여, 일기일회의 정신성을 고양시키고, 화경청적의 분위기를 만들기 위해서였다.

영문 초록

Taian, a tea room annexed to Myoki-an Temple in Yamazaki, Kyoto, Japan and designed by Sen Rikyu in 1582, the oldest and Rikyu s only tea room, is a very tiny room with two tatamis including niziriguchi and designated as Japanese national treasure. Inside the tea room there is little feeling about the space which is strangely narrow. In order to escape from stuffiness, how is the tea room composed of. The contents are as follows. First, the tea room consisted of soil wall painted black in order not to reflect light and many windows made it possible to change fine light and shade inside. Second, Murodoko, a soil wall painted circularly and has a low ceiling, made the space more magnificent and wider. Third, inclines on the ceiling made guest feel cubic like an attic, while not feel narrow and pressure. Fourth, if guests crawl through niziriguchi, they recognize that the inner space seems relatively wider and more magnificent. Fifth, materials used for the tea room put emphasis on natural beauty without processing and sought the sense of beauty for Wabisabi . Taian maintains very close distance between the master and guests in order to make a tense relation which is enough to know each other s minds. The goal to build the tiny tea room was to realize Wabi Cha, and could find out the mental beauty in the clear and calm inner peace. Rikyu boosted the mind of Ilgiilhoi and built the tiny tea room in order to create the atmosphere of Hwagyeongcheongjeok.
