뉴스 빅데이터를 활용한 평생교육 토픽 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 뉴스 빅데이터를 활용하여 평생교육의 주요 토픽을 도출하기 위해 토픽 모델링(Topic Modeling) 분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 2003년부터 2018년까지 평생교육진흥기본계획이 수립된 5년을 기준으로 4개 시기로 구분하여, 총 25개 매체에서 보도한 평생교육 관련 뉴스 21,391건을 한국언론진흥재단에서 운영하는 뉴스 빅데이터 서비스 빅카인즈(Big Kinds)를 이용하여 수집하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 평생교육은 정치적 차원에서 지역 발전과 일자리창출을 위한 정책 수단으로 활용되었으며, 경제적 차원에서 기업 및 학교의 인재육성 수단으로 활용되었고, 원격학습(e-러닝)이 평생교육 구현의 효과적인 수단으로 부각되었다. 교육소외계층을 위한 평생교육과 평생교육 네트워크 구축에 대한 관심도 공통적으로 나타났으며, 평생학습축제(박람회)를 통한 평생학습문화 확산에 대한 뉴스가 전 시기에 전국에 걸쳐 보도되었다. 본 연구의 의의로서, 16년 동안 보도된 평생교육 관련 뉴스를 통합적으로 분석함으로써, 특정 지역․기관․공동체․개인 중심의 평생교육 연구의 영역을 확대했다. 뉴스 빅데이터를 수집하고 이를 빅데이터 분석기법을 통해 실증적․체계적으로 분석함으로써, 기존 면담․사례․문헌연구, 설문조사에 편중된 평생교육 연구방법의 다양성을 도모했다. 평생교육 현상을 다양한 이론체계와 결합하여 교육학-커뮤니케이션학-데이터공학의 학제간 연구(Interdisciplinarity) 활성화를 시도했다는 학문적 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

In order to analyze lifelong education discourse, this study used news big data to perform Topic Modeling analysis. In the 16 years from 2003 to 2018, a total of 21,391 news items related to lifelong education reported by 25 media were collected using BIGKinds, a news big data service operated by the Korea Press Foundation. As a result of the analysis, lifelong education was utilized as a policy tool for regional development and job creation on a political level, and as a means for fostering talent in enterprises and schools on an economic level, remote learning (e-learning) was highlighted as an effective means of implementing lifelong education.Interest in the establishment of lifelong education and lifelong education networks for those outside of formal education system also appeared in common, and news of the spread of lifelong learning culture through the Lifelong Learning Festival (Exposition) was reported across the country at the previous time. This study has the following implications. First, by comprehensively analyzing the news related to lifelong education reported over 16 years, the area of lifelong education research centered on specific regions, institutions, communities and individuals has been expanded. Second, by collecting news big data and analyzing it empirically and systematically through the big data analysis method, researchers secured diversity in lifelong education research methods that were biased toward existing interviews, cases, literature research and surveys. Third, by combining the phenomena of lifelong education with various theoretical systems, we attempted to revitalize interdisciplinary research in education and communication and data engineering.
