창업성장률 지표개발에 관한 탐색적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 창업기업이 글로벌 진출 국가를 모색함에 있어서 활용 가능한 지표를 탐색적으로 연구하였다. 해외에서는 세계은행(World Bank)의 기업환경평가, GERA(Global Entrepreneurship Research Association)의 글로벌 기업가정신 지수(GEM, 경제협력개발기구(OECD)의 기업가정신 보고서(Entrepreneurship at a Glance)가 존재하는데 몇 가지 한계가 있다. 이에, 창업기업의 시장성을 대표하는 변수 중의 하나인 총 매출액의 전년도 대비 증감정도를 기준으로 창업성장률을 측정하였다. 그 결과, ’13년 2.87%, ’13년 12.43%, ’14년 1.21%로 창업기업의 양적 성장 이면에 둔화된 질적 성장정도를 확인하였다. 또한, 전체 업종의 창업기업 창업성장률은 (+)임에도 불구하고, 제조업과 지식서비스업의 창업성장률은 (-)의 결과를 보이는 등의 업종별 차이를 비교하였다. 창업기업의 2년 생존율을 기준으로 살펴본 창업성장률은 ’12년-2.6%, ’13년 5.5%, ’14년 -1.2%, ’15년 -2.4%, ’16년 1.2%로 매년 창업기업 수가 지속적으로 증가함에도 불구하고, 실질적 성장의 정도는 상이할 수 있음을 시사하였다. 비록, 국가별 비교 연구의 필요성, 창업성장에 영향을 미치는 다양한 변수를 고려하지 못한 점 등의 연구한계가 존재하나, 창업성장률 지표개발에 대한 첫 시도를 통해 창업기업과 정책관계자에게 실무적인 가이드를 제시하는 계기로 연구의 의미를 담았다.

영문 초록

This study examined the available metrics for start-ups to advance into the global market. There are some limitations in Enterprise Environment Assessment of the World Bank, Global Entrepreneurship index of GERA (Global Entrepreneurship Research Association) and Entrepreneurship at a Glance of OECD. So, when measuring the growth rate of a start-up based on the degree of variation in total sales compared to the previous year, one of the most marketable variables in start-up, we have found that real growth has showed behind the quantitative growth of start-up: 2.87% in 2012, 12.43% in 2013, 1.21% in 2014. Although the growth rates of start-ups in all sectors have risen, it has been found that the growth rates of start-ups in manufacturing industries and knowledge service industries have dropped. Based on the two-year survival rate of start-up, the growth rate was 2.6% in 2012, 5.5% in 2013, 1.2% in 2014, 2.4% in 2015 and 1.2% in 2016. Although the number of start-up companies continue to rise each year, it has also shown that the actual degree of growth may vary. Although we almost first examined the development of the start-up growth rate index from various perspectives, we did not consider the limitations such as a comparative study of various countries and exclusion of various variables affecting the development of start-ups.
