국문 초록

도덕적 해이는 IMF 외환위기를 촉발했던 원인 중 하나이며 경제의 효율성과 직접적으로 관련된 중요한 경제문제이다. 이러한 경영자의 도덕적 해이를 통제할 수 있는 방법에 대해 이론적으로 다양한 제시가 있었다. 하지만 어떠한 수단도 경영자의 도덕적 해이를 완벽하게 통제할 수 없었다. 한국은 IMF 외환위기 직후 구조개혁을 통해 경제 전반에 걸친 도덕적 해이와 관치금융, 성장제일주의 등의 도덕적 해이에 대한 통제를 시도했다. 이후 재벌기업의 재무제표 및 거버넌스 개선, 재벌 견제장치 도입 등의 일부 성과가 있었지만, 투자자원의 배분 악화와 집단이기주의 및 성장위주의 경영관행, 단기적인 경영성과에 의존하는 과거의 경영행태에서 벗어나지 못한 모습을 보여 도덕적 해이는 완벽하게 통제되지 못한 것으로 분석된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 도덕적 해이 문제를 해결하기 위한 대안으로 성경의 청지기적 사명을 제시한다. 즉, 경영자들 자신이 하나님의 청지기라는 사명과 책임감을 갖고, 개인의 이익을 우선시하기보다 효율적인 자원의 사용을 결정하는 경영활동을 행하는 것이다. 이를 통해 도덕적 해이 문제의 근본적인 해결을 기대한다.

영문 초록

Moral hazard is one of the causes of the IMF financial crisis and an important economic issue directly related to economic efficiency. Theoretically, there are variety of suggestions about how to control the agent s moral hazard. However, any remedy cannot perfectly control the agent s moral hazard. After the IMF financial crisis, South Korea attempted to control moral hazard problem throughout the economy such as firm’s principal-agent problem, inefficient government finance, and growth prejudice through economic reforms. Through this, there were some accomplishments such as improvement of financial statements and governance of chaebol companies and the introduction of monitoring system of chaebol. However, moral hazard problem could not controlled perfectly, because of firm’s practices of management that depend on it’s short-term business performance and management practices focused on group selfishness and growth. In this paper, I present the stewardship mission of the Bible as an alternative to solution to solve the agent’s moral hazard problem. That means agent’s themselves should have the mission and responsibility to be the stewards of God, and do management that determine the use of resources more efficiently than prioritize personal interests. Through this, I expect a fundamental solution to the moral hazard problem.
