영문 초록
A new cultivar of Phalaenopsis, “Yellow Star” was initially selected from the progenies derived from self-pollination of the cultivar “Taipei Gold” in 1995 at the National Horticultural Research Institute, Rural Development Administration. It was finally selected in 2002 after the investigation of the characteristics for five years (1998-2002). “Yellow Star” has yellow flowers with brown spot, thick petal, sepal, and long blooming, semi-upright leaf and high-mass propagation of 70%. One excellent characteristics of this new cultivar is its fragrance that is absent in the most hybrids of Palaenopsis. Strong sunlight should be avoided for its growth. Growing temperatures of 35℃/15℃ (day/night) are advisable. A variety protection has been applied for this cultivar in 2005.
