연구윤리의 방법론에 대한 기독교윤리적 고찰

국문 초록

  최근 들어 한국 사회에서는 학자들의 연구윤리 문제가 새롭게 부각되고 있다. 학문이 학자의 정직성에 기초해서만 발전할 수 있다는 의미에서 이 주제에 대한 연구는 매우 중요해 보인다. 이 논문은 기독교윤리학적 입장에서 연구윤리의 방법론을 살펴보는 데 그 목적이 있다.
  연구윤리가 다루게 되는 윤리적 이슈들은 연구과정, 연구대상 그리고 연구 결과라는 학문 활동 전체 과정과 관련되어 있다. 학문세계에서 경쟁이 심화되고 학자들에 대한 연구업적에 대한 사회적 요구가 커질수록 연구 활동에서 윤리적 부정행위틀은 더 자주 발생하게 될 전망이다.
  연구윤리의 방법론은 크게 세 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 덕 윤리적 접근방법은 연구자 개인의 지적 정직성 형성에 관심한다. 지적 정직성이란, 연구 활동에서 절차적 투명성과 내용적 정직성을 포괄하는 개념이다. 연구자 개인의 지적 정직성이라는 덕이 전제되지 않고는 어떤 사회제도도 연구 활동에서 생겨나는 부정직 행위들을 모두 규제할 수 없을 것이다. 둘째, 책임윤리적 접근방법은 연구결과의 사회적 책임에 관심한다. 오늘날 모든 학술적 연구는 사회와 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 비록 연구가 실험실이란 공간에서 이루어진다 해도 연구비의 출처가 사회이며, 연구결과의 적용과정에서 펼연적으로 인간과 사회, 그리고 자연환경에 영향을 미치기 마련이다. 특히, 과학의 발전과 그 결과의 치명성을 생각할 때 연구가 미칠 결과에 대한 연구자들의 윤리의식과 책임의식이 더욱 강화될 필요가 있다. 마지막으로, 사회윤리로서의 연구 윤리는 연구의 윤리성을 확보하기 위한 법적ㆍ제도적 장치 마련에 관심한다. 정직한 지적 풍토를 위해서는 학자의 엄격한 자기 규제만이 아니라 동료들에 의한 심사나 결과에 대한 검증의 절차가 필요하다. 연구자 집단의 자기정화를 위한 제도가 필요한 이유는 연구 활동이 전문적 영역에 속해서 일반인이 평가하고 감독하기 어렵기 때문이다.
  연구 활동에 요청되는 지적 정직성이란 단지 과학자와 학자들에게만 요청되는 덕이 아니다. 목사들도 설교나 성경공부와 같은 지적 정직성에 관련된 활동을 하고 있다. 표절과 도용같은 비윤리적인 행위들은 목회자에 대한 신뢰를 해치고 있다. 한국 교회의 목회자들과 연구 직종에 관련된 교인들이 도덕적 탁월성을 보여줄 수 있을 때 교회에

영문 초록

  This study aims to investigate the methodology of research ethics from the perspective of Christian ethics. Today the research ethics has became one of the hot issue in our society. Ethical misconducts and dishonest of scientist have been found in the process of research in the form of plagiarism, fabrication and falsification. Also, there have been ethical controversies on the misuse of research subject involving human being and animals, also from the social and ecological effects of research.
  The traditional research ethics pursuits the scientist"s integrity in their research in the sense of benevolent motivation, methodological accuracy and social responsibility. In this article three different approaches are proposed: first, virtue ethical approach puts an emphasis on the autonomy of the researcher through the code of research ethics and their moral excellence. Virtue ethical approach is interested in the formation of scientist"s integrity such as honesty, carefulness, openness, freedom, credit, education, legality, mutual respect, efficiency, respect for subjects. Second, responsible ethical approach focuses on the social and environmental effects of research. Scientist should make an effort to prognose about the future by the "Heuristik der Furcht" (Hans Jonas). Last, social ethical approach seeks the institutional and legal countermeasures such as Institutional Review Board(IRB) and protects the whistle-blowers to correct the research ethical problems. Cultural ethical approach is interested in the social and cultural factors which exercise influence on the researcher. For example, patriarchal and sexual discriminative culture may be analyzed.
  This study gives to the Christian scholars and church ministers the opportunies of self-examination of themselves in terms of intellectual integrity. The achievement of moral excellence may help the Korean church to retrieve their public trust and social lead
