국문 초록

이 논문은 박윤선의 구약전권 주석에 대한 비평적 평가다. 그동안 그의 주석이 한국 교회에 끼친 압도적인 영향력에 비해, 그것의 학문적 가치에 대한 엄밀한 평가는 거의 이뤄지지 않았다. 이 논문은 박윤선은 캘빈주의적 개혁신학의 빛 아래서 구약주석을 진행했다고 주장했기에 다음 세 가지 질문에 답하는 형식으로 전개된다. 첫째, 그의 구약주석은 그가 개진하는 개혁주의적 성경신학에 충실한가? 둘째, 그의 캘빈주의적 주경신학은 한국 교회를 세우는데 충분히 선한 영향을 미쳤는가? 셋째, 그의 구약주석 중 어떤 부분이 오늘날의 교회와 신앙발전을 위해 계승되어야 하는가? 이 질문에 답하기 위해 연구자는 구약 전권 주석을 자세히 읽고 분석하고 평가했다. 특히 개별주석의 편집적 구조, 각 책 주석의 신학적 전제와 특질을 특별히 주목하며 분석했다. 그 결과 본 연구는 박윤선의 구약주석이 갖는 선구자적인 지위와 다대한 영향력에도 불구하고 두 가지 점에서 그의 주석이 스스로 주창한 캘빈주의적 주경신학의 이상에는 미치지 못한다고 결론을 내렸다. 첫째, 캘빈주의적인 하나님 총체적 주권과 통치사상이 그의 주석에 충분히 반영되지 못했기 때문이다. 둘째, 그는 구약 원어본문 해석을 통한 고전적인 주해를 수행한 것이 아니라 주로 서구학자들의 의견들을 취사선택하는 방식으로 진정한 주석을 대신했기 때문이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present essay is to examine the reformed theology of Park Yune Sun as reflected in his OT commentaries. His OT commentaries thus far have commanded a great deal of respect and acceptance among Korean pastors, liberal and conservative alike for two reasons. They offer a pastoral and theological exposition of 39 OT books under the umbrella of Calvinistic expository theology, providing Korean preachers with practical instructions about how to make OT books relevant to Christians’ life. Furthermore, they have contributed to meeting Korean Christians’ thirst after God’s penetrating Word. His commentaries have exerted an enormous influence on the shaping of the Korean church into a Bible-loving Church. Nevertheless, they have played a negative role in the progress of Korean OT exegesis. The present essay thus critically them with attention to three focal questions: (1) Were Park’s OT commentaries sufficiently consistent with his understanding of OT theology? (2) Was Park’s understanding of Calvinistic Exegetical Theology correct and as such productive enough to edify the then Korean Church? (3) Which part of Park’s OT commentaries and OT theology is to be adopted to help us cope with ever-changing life situations in general and the Korean church in particular? The present author has concluded that Park’s commentaries fall short of a Calvinistic exposition of the OT for two reasons. First, they lack sufficient serious efforts to make the OT bear on public life situations such as historical revolutions, politics, economic justice etc. Second, they do not present a serious level of exegetical work in that his interpretation of OT texts was largely dependent on secondary works of Western Calvinistic scholars.
