국문 초록

일반은총의 목적은 우주와 인류의 싹 속에 심겨진 모든 것이 하나님 이름의 영광과 찬양을 밝히 드러내려는 것이다. 예수 그리스도를 통한 특별은총이 구체적인 삶의 현장에서 “하나님의 영광”을 드러내는 방식이 일반은총이다. 우주적 아름다움은 인간 안에서 그 자신을 완성한다. 종교란, 신성의 저변 영역의 신비 현상과 인간성의 상한 영역의 문화현상이 교착, 교향하는 역동적인 자리이다. 본고는 오늘날 기독교회(특히 개신교회)에 만연한 자연세계에 대한 획일적 인식의 반성과, 성서계시 자체의 아름다움, 그리고 예술을 통한 감각과 초월의 미학적 가능성을 탐구함으로써, 위기에 봉착한 복음의 역동성을 회복하려 한다. 사람들을 강력하게 사로잡고 자극하고 변화시킬 수 있는 아름다움의 가장 큰 파워는, 믿고 사랑하고 기뻐하는 “그리스도의 아름다움”에서 비롯된다. 계시라는 복음의 메시지를 전달하고 체험하는 것은 단지 합리적인 명료성만으로 가능한 것이 아니다. 미적 체험 즉 아름다움에 대한 감각은 부수적이고 열등한 수단이 아니라, 진리의 집중된 핵심을 “보다 강렬하게” 체험하는 방법이다. 아름다움에 대한 체험은 계시의 진리를 단순히 문자적인 의사전달의 대상으로만 보는 것이 아니라, 위대한 신비를 자기 삶으로 정직하게 체험할 수 있도록 한다. 모차르트 피아노협주곡의 아름다움에 대한 감각적 체험은 시 22편과의 서사적 공감을 통해 수많은 사람들로 하여금 “신적 아름다움”이라는 특별은총을 더욱 깊어지게 하고, 초월 영성에 이르는 과정에 큰 도움을 준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of general grace is to reveal the magnitude, glory, and the beauty of God ingrained in all creatures of the earth, including humans. That is, the special grace of Jesus Christ is exposed and glorified in our practical, every day lives through general grace. Within this general grace, the beauty of the entire universe is culminated through human beings. Religion is a dynamic place and time in which there is an gglutination and symphony of two spheres: the mysterious phenomenon of the deity's lower area and the cultural phenomenon of humanity's higher level. This article explores the possibilities of the theology of beauty through sense and transcendence in the spheres of art (particularly music), as well as in Biblical revelations and the natural world. The power of beauty that enthralls, stimulates, and changes people most strongly is generated by the beauty of Christ, which gives faith, love, and joy. To deliver and experience the Gospel message as a revelation is not possible solely through rational clarity. Any experience of beauty (i.e.,sensibility of the beauty) is not simply a secondary or subordinate means to another end, but a primary way to vividly experience the concentrated core of truth. Hence, experiencing beauty helps us to experience the great mysteries in our lives, and helps cast away considerations of revelational truth simply as a communicational means. For instance, a sensible experience of the beauty of Mozart's piano concertos would facilitate an awareness and deepening of the beauty of God, in conjunction with appreciating the Psalm 22, that is special grace, and even help to inspire “transcendental spirituality,” as demonstrated by Karl Barth.
