영문 초록

This study examined the effect of horticultural therapy program on the life satisfaction of hospitalized chronic stroke patients. This study was conducted with 11 subjects in the control group and 12 subjects in the experimental group at S Nursing Home in Guri-city. A total of 13 horticultural therapy sessions were given to each experimental group once a week during the period from September to November 2012. During the same time frame, the control group did not receive any horticultural therapy. Non-parametric Mann-Whitney test and wilcoxon signed-rank test were used for data analysis. According to the result, stroke patients who received horticultural therapy showed a significant change in ‘life satisfaction’(p=0.002). They also showed meaningful changes in satisfaction of their past, present, and future regarding the sub-variables. However, the stroke patients who did not received horticultural therapy program showed a non-significant change in ‘life satisfaction’(control group, from 12.36±4.54 to 11.18±3.97, p=0.136). Regarding the difference of ‘life satisfaction’ between the control group and experimental group after therapy programs, non-significant changes were observed in the past and present satisfaction with life regarding the sub-variables. However, significant changes revealed for future satisfaction with life regarding sub-variables(p=0.003).
