관광객의 인구 통계적 특성이 국민관광수요에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 관광객의 인구 통계적 특성에 따른 국내 관광수요와 해외 관광수요 간의 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 대표적 관광객의 효용함수에 따른 국민관광수요 모형을 구축하고 추정결과를 제시하였다. 분석대상은 국민 관광객이며, 종속변수는 관광횟수이기 때문에 절단된 포아송 모형(Truncated Poisson Model)이 활용되었다. 분석결과, 경제변수들(소득, 여행비용)과 달리, 관광객의 인구 통계적 특성(성별, 연령, 교육연수, 혼인상태)은 국내 및 해외 관광수요에 서로 다른 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 추정모형에 기반 한 관광수요의 예측횟수에 따르면, 성별 및 혼인여부에 따라 국내관광 및 해외관광 간에 차이가 나타났다. 즉, 남성보다는 여성이 국내관광을 더 선호하였으며, 비혼 상태의 여행객이 더 빈번하게 관광을 즐기는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해, 적합한 국민관광수요의 분석을 위해서는 국내 및 해외관광수요를 구분할 필요성이 존재함을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the effect of socio-demographic factors on the difference between domestic and international tourism demand. Since our dependant variable is the travel frequency greater than zero, we utilize truncated poisson regression model and robust standard error used to manage over-dispersion. The results show that first, coefficients of economic variables(income level, tourism price) were significant both domestic and international demand. Tourist characteristics(age, gender, education, marital status, etc.) had significant impact on domestic tourism demand, but not on international tourism demand. These results imply that international tourism demand is more influenced by economic factors than tourist characteristics. According to the prediction values of the both tourism demand, women preferred domestic tourism rather than men. Futhermore, non-married travelers showed more the travel frequency whether the destination is domestic or foreign. Considering differences in the effects of socioeconomic characteristics on domestic tourism and international tourism provide useful information for decision-making of tourism policy.
