사고의 시간이동: 아우구스티누스의 교육인식론

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 아우구스티누스의 인식론을 통해 지식의 공간이동으로 교수-학습을 이해하는 관점의 문제점을 살펴보고 그 대안으로 시간이동의 관점을 제시하는 데에 있다. 교사가 학생에게 지식을 전달한다거나 학생이 외부세계의 사실을 발견한다는 식의 공간이동 비유는 경험과 경험, 경험과 주체, 주체와 주체 사이를 모두 분리시키며, 경험을 통한 마음의 성장과 보편적 기준의 획득이 우연에 의해서 설명되는 난점이 있다. 이에 반해 아우구스티누스의 기억 개념은 감각인식조차 영혼의 주시, 기억 및 의지(사랑)를 통한 재사고 과정이 있음을 강조한다. 학습은 대상으로부터의 수동적 각인이 아니라 기억을 통한 영혼의 능동적 사고과정이다. 나아가 그의 인식론은 플라톤으로부터 이어져 내려온 상기설을 신적 조명의 개념으로 보완하고 있다. 개념의 획득에는, 추상이나 본유관념의 사용을 넘어 서는 공적 기준의 수용이 가정되어 있다는 것이다. 요컨대, 아우구스티누스는, 기억이론을 통해서 경험들을 연결하는 사고의 종합, 경험과 주체를 분리시키지 않는 내면의 사고를 설명하고, 신적 조명설을 통해서 인식주체들이 공유하는 보편성을 선험적 차원에서 해명하며, 이로써 교수-학습의 개념에 들어있는 시간이동의 차원을 보여주고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems of conceptual understanding of teaching-learning through spacial movement of knowledge by St. Augustine s epistemology, and as an alternative, to examine aspects of learning corresponding to time movement. The belief in which the teacher transfer knowledge to the student or the student discovers the facts of the external world is based on the separation of experience and experience, experience and subject, subject and subject. This approach has a difficulty that understanding through experience and acquiring of universal standard explained by chance. On the other hand, Augustine s concept of memory suggests that learning is an active thinking of the soul, not a passive imprinting from objects, because knowing imply a reconsideration by soul s attention, memory and will(love). Furthermore, in his epistemology the concept of divine illumination is added to memory and recollection. The acquisition of the concept is a priori acceptance of the public standard beyond the use of abstract or basic idea. In short, St. Augustine show by the concept of memory and divine illumination theory that knowing is like time movement. Indeed knowledge presupposes an unity of experiences, inner thinking, and a priori dimension shared by persons.
