국문 초록

유럽에서 프란치스코 교황 가르침의 수용 여부를 평가하기 위해서는 언론에서 전망하는 것 그 이상의 통찰이 필요하다. 대부 분 유럽 국가들의 상황이 어려워지는 가운데 프란치스코 교황의 몇몇 행동들은 보다 넓은 차원의 청중들을 끌어 모았지만, 특히 이민자 문제에 있어서는 가톨릭 신자들 사이에 상반된 감정을 불러일으키기도 했다. 따라서 프란치스코 교황이 지역 교회에서 어떻게 수용되고 있는지를 주의 깊게 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 그러한 과정을 통해 주교회의의 역할에 대한 교회론적 물음을 새롭게 제기할 수 있을 것이다. 새롭게 제시된 교회의 공동합의성(synodality)은 그리스도교 공동체가 한계와 경계를 서로 명확히 구분하는 데에 도움이 되어야 한다. 프란치스코 교황의 가르침은, 어떠한 한계들은 인류가 반드시 존중해야 하지만, 그와 동시에 그 어느 때보다도 더 충실하게 경계들을 넘나들 필요가 있음을 말해 준다.

영문 초록

The evaluation of the reception in Europe of Pope Francis’ teachings needs more than the analysis of media perspectives and opinions. In the critical situation of most European countries, some gestures of Francis gained him wide audience in the various media, but more ambivalent feelings among Catholics, especially about the issue of migration. It is then necessary to scrutinize the processes of reception in the local Churches, which raises new ecclesiological questions about the episcopal conferences. A renewed synodality should help Christian communities to discern the difference between limits and boundaries. Pope Francis’ teachings show that humankind must respect some limits, but, more than ever, we may fruitfully cross boundaries.
