대안교육 사례 ‘꿈마을 프로젝트’의 교육적 의미

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대안교육 사례 ‘꿈마을 프로젝트’에 참여한 학교폭력피해학생들의 경험을 ‘관계 맺기’를 중심으로 드러내고, 이를 토대로 ‘꿈마을 프로젝트’ 사례의 교육적 의미를 이해하는 것이다. 연구자는 대안교육을 근대적 공교육 문제를 비판하는 교육운동으로 볼 때, 대안교육 사례의 대안성을 잘 드러낼 수 있음을 선행연구를 통해 확인하고, 이러한 관점을 지닌 비판교육학을 통해 ‘꿈마을 프로젝트’의 교육적 의미를 해석하고자 하였다. 연구결과, ‘꿈마을 프로젝트’에 참여한 학생들은 기존에 학교에서 경험했던 불평등하고 폭력적인 관계가 아닌 친밀하고 신뢰가있는 관계, 도움을 주고받는 관계를 경험하고 있었다. 학생들은 이러한 새로운 관계를 통해 비인간화된 상태에서 벗어나 마음을 치유하고, 주체성을 회복하고, 공동체원으로 성장하고 있었다. 그러나 아직 학생들의 관심과 변화가 더 넓은 공동체로 나아가지 못하고 꽃피움센터라는 경계안에 머물고 있는 상태에서, 꽃피움센터의 임시성과 특수성으로 인해 학생들의 성장은 지속되지 못할 위기에 놓여있었다. 이러한 맥락에서, 청소년들에게 보편적인 경험을 제공하는 장소로서 학교는 민주적인 문화를 형성하는 새로운 관계를 제공해야 할 당위성을 갖고 있었고, 이를 위해 학교에서 관계의 주체자이자 중재자로서 교사의 역할을 강조할 필요가 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the educational meaning of the Dream Village Project, an alternative educational case, based on the relationship of victims of school violence. In this study, the educational meaning was interpreted from the perspective of critical pedagogy. As critical pedagogy has a viewpoint to criticize modern public education, we can reveal the alternative aspects of the Dream Village Project. As a result of this study, the students have experienced intimate, trustful, and mutually beneficial relationships with the participants, instead of the unequal and violent relationships that they have experienced at school. Based on these new relationships, students were able to move away from the status of being dehumanized, heal their mind, restore subjectivity, and grow as a member of community. However, the students’ interest still remained in the Flowering Center and did not entered into a bigger territory of the community yet. In addition, since the Flowering Center was a temporary community and specialized educational institution, it was diffi cult to continue their experience. In this context, as a place to provide universal experience for young people, schools needed to provide a new relationship to create a democratic culture. Also, as part of this change, the role of the teacher as a driver and mediator in the relationship had to be emphasized.
