영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the efficiency of each operator of culture and arts centers by extracting samples from 20 out of about 220 culture and arts centers all over the country using stratified sampling. For this study, the number of employees and capital budget were set as input variables and the number of performances, the number of exhibitions, the number of audience and business income were set as output variables for DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis). The analysis result showed that unlike previous studies, there were no special differences between direct operation and consigned operation, between capital regions and non-capital regions and between cities and provinces and a similar level was maintained. It is considered that this is because culture and art centers have voluntarily put effort into improving operation performance, which has been pointed out socially and competent authorities and relevant organizations including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have constantly supported local culture and arts centers. This result implies there is a need to choose proper operators by considering the situations of culture and arts centers, rather than blindly following specific operators for strengthening the efficiency in future.
