영문 초록

Recently, the diplomatic field of the international community is not limited to the role of the state alone. In the aspect of public diplomacy, not only the non-governmental and private sectors, but also the local autonomous entities are recognized as areas for active participation in accordance with the principle of supplementality to the state. In this context, this study seeks to revitalize the public diplomacy centered on local governments. For this purpose, I analyzed the case of Uijeongbu City which is an example of local government public diplomacy. This study suggests ways to revitalize the public diplomacy of local governments. First, the basic directions of public diplomacy should be fitted to local governments. Second, the brand value of public diplomacy should be raised. Third, the organization system for public diplomacy should be established. Fourth, we must have a pool of public diplomacy.
