학령기 고기능 ASD 아동의 문해 특성:

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 초등 고기능 자폐 범주성 장애(autism spectrum disorder; ASD) 아동이 작성한 이야기 자료의 구문과 어휘 특성을 분석하였다. 1∼3학년 고기능 ASD 아동 15명과 이들의 수용어휘력을 일치시킨 일반 아동 15명을 대상으로, 이야기 쓰기 과제를 실시하여 C-unit당 평균단어길이와 종속절을 분석하여 구문복잡성을 비교하였고, 추상명사와 고빈도 학습용 어휘, 한자어와 인지 동사를 포함한 어휘성숙도를 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 총 C-unit 수에서 고기능 ASD 아동은 일반 아동과 비교해 수행에 차이가 없었지만, 구문복잡성을 볼 수 있는 C-unit당 평균단어길이와 평균 종속절 수에서는 통계적으로 유 의미하게 적게 사용하고 있었다. 둘째, 어휘성숙도 분석에서 고기능 ASD 아동 집단은 서로 다른 단어 수, C-unit당 고빈도 학습용 어휘와 한자어 사용에서 큰 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 추상명사와 인지 동사는 통계적으로도 유의미하게 적게 사용하였다. 즉, 학령기고기능 ASD 아동들은 구조화된 이야기 다시 쓰기 과제 수행 시, 구문복잡성에서 결함을 보였으나 고빈도 학습용 어휘와 한자어 같은 구조화된 암기형 어휘 사용에는 큰 어려움이 없었다. 하지만, 내적 상태를 표현하는 추상명사와 인지 동사 사용에서는 수행이 저조하였으므로 이를 임상 장면에서 적용할 수 있도록 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This present study investigated the literate lexicon and syntactic complexity using narrative writing task in order to find out the literacy characteristics of Korean school-aged children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorders (HFA). Fifteen children with HFA and fifteen receptive vocabulary ability- matched typically developing children(TD) in grades 1-3 participated in this study. The written narrative data were coded and analyzed by literate lexicon such as abstract nouns, high frequency academic vocabularies, Sino-Korean words, and cognitive verbs. The results of this study were as follows: First, HFA group showed significantly lower performance than the TD group on the writing task in the number of use of a MLC-w. Second, children with HFA have difficulties in syntax complexity. Second, the average number of clauses per C-unit showed significant difference between the two groups. There were significant differences in abstract nouns and cognitive verbs. Children with HFA showed lower performances than typical children in story writing task. This results suggest that literate lexicon and syntactic complexity should be considered when assessing the language performance of writing task of them.
