국문 초록

본 연구에서는 지난 45년간 진행 된 우리기업의 중동지역 수출, 건설플랜트 수주, 직접투자 진출 역사를 거시적 통계자료를 활용하여 체계적이고 종합적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 분석결과 1970~80년대와 2000년대 고유가 시기에는 산유국의 프로젝트 발주량 증가로 우리의 건설플랜트 수주도 확대되었다. 다음으로 우리의 중동지역 대상 상품수출과 건설플랜트 수주는 1990년대의 저유가 시대를 제외하고는 고유가 년대에는 동일한 방향으로 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 이는 중동지역의 건설플랜트 프로젝트 수주가 관련 기자재의 수출 확대로 이어지는 구조이기 때문이다. 아울러 중동지역에서 우리기업의 건설플랜트 수주는 상품수출과 연계될 뿐만 아니라 직접투자진출에도 영향을 미친다. 특히 2000년대부터는 건설플랜트 발주형태가 기 존의 도급방식에서 투자개발형으로 확대되고 있어 우리의 직접투자 진출도 증가하고 있다. 한편 상품수출을 확대하기 위한 현지 영업망 구축 등 현지 시장진출형 직접투자도 2000년대부터 활발하게 이루어지고 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the history of the Korean companies’ advance to the Middle East region over the past 45 years, emphasizing the characteristics of each years in commodity export, construction and plant order and FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) fields by using macroscopic statistics with comprehensive perspectives.　 The results of the study shows that Korean companies’ participation in plant and construction projects was expanded as the oil producing countries increased the project orders in the 1970~80’s and the 2000’s with the high oil price.　Korean companies’ export of commodities and participation in construction and plant projects in the Middle East are having the same upward trend with consistency in high oil price era, except for the 1990’s with the low oil price.　Korea’s participation in construction and plant projects is the foundation that leads to its increase in commodity exports of related equipment. Moreover, order of construction and plant by Korean companies in the Middle East is not only related to the commodity exports, but also affecting on the entry of direct investment.　Particularly, the direct investment of Korean companies has increased since 2000’s as a form of order for construction and plant is expanded to the investment development type from the former contract system. Meanwhile, direct investment on local market for establishing local networks that expands product exports has also been active prosperously since the 2000’s.
