This survey study was carried out to find out the management of curriculum, educational facilities and materials, and realities of guiding learning activities for practical arts education in elementary school in Cheju area. The data were 246 teachers responses obtained in the questionnaire of 33 alternative issues. The results obtained are summarized as follows.
The current practical arts curriculum was managed generally without analyzing reasonal units and contents of text for regional environment. Its class was progressed normally, but the class teachers of 39.4% missed it. It was responded that the reasons for abnormal management of practical arts were the shortage of educational facilities and practice hours.
The practice lesson were out carried out insufficiently for the nonexistence of practical arts laboratory, and shortage of experimental practice facilities and unsatisfied time. The educational materials were poor usually, what is more, there were no practice facilities in urban elementary school of 53%. The flowers of 10-30 species, trees of about so species and domestic animals below 5 species were cultivated in campus. No breeding tendency of domestic animals was recognized nearly in urban elementary school.
It was responded that the most important domain of practical arts education was living skills, secondarily, was understanding of working and vocation to male teachers, and was planning and management of living to female teachers. The leading management methods of practical arts class were practice, theocratical teaching and writing with explanation.
The great part of class teacher managed usually the practice hour, however, progressed it partially by the exclusively responsible teachers in case of urban large scale school.
