국문 초록

본 논문에서는 교육 및 교육학을 연구하기 위한 학문적 논리로서 체계이론이 과연 어떠한 유용한 관점 및 이론적 틀을 제공할 수 있는지 탐색하는 일을 목적으로 삼고 있다. 필자는 체계이론 성립의 역사 속에 출몰해온 다양한 형식과 내용의 이론들 중에서 가장 최근에 학계에 소개되었으며 교육학 연구의 차원에서 적용가능성이 크다고 판단되는 세 이론, 즉 ‘엘반체계이론’과 ‘사이버네틱스 이론’, ‘자생적 체계이론’을 연구의 대상으로서 다루고 있다. 필자는 이 세 가지 체계이본 각각의 특정 및 대표적인 개념들, 이론적 구성에 대해 서술하고, 그 이론적 시각에서 교육, 교육학의 문제를 바라볼 때 어떠한 의미, 시사점을 얻을 수 있는지 살펴봄과 동시에 그러한 시도가 어떠한 문제점, 한계를 가지고 있는지를 함께 서술하였다.

영문 초록

The mm of this article is to explore the applicability of ‘systems theories’ as a methodological framework for studies in pedagogy. To deal with this subject the focus is directed especially at three types of systems theories ; ‘general systems theory’, ‘cybernetics’ and ‘autopoietic systems theory’. These three systems theories seem to give convincing and useful viewpoint in order to analyze and explain the current educational problems in our extrem complex society. In this paper, I try to provide not only an assessment of the positive meaning and implication, but also limits and problems of these three systems theories for various fields of pedagogical research. The structure of this article is as follows: The first section defines and clarifies ‘system’ as the key concept of systems theories. The second section deals with the theoretical outline and important arguments of each type of three systems theories. In the third section I consider the possibilities to apply these theories to essential themes in pedagogy like ‘human being’ and ‘educatinal phenomen’. In the fourth part I conclude by emphasizing the implications of systems theories on the one side and by revealing serious problems on the other side, which would certainly occur, when the viewpoints of systems theories are related particularly to the issues in pedagogy.
