국문 초록

이 연구는 우리 나라 학교현장에서 학습자중심교육의 가능성을 탐색하려는 시도이다. 우리나라에 도입되었던 많은 교육이론들이 성공하지 못한 이유가 교수방법에 대한 총체적 접근이 아니라, 외형적인 기능만을 모방하려 했다는 문제의식이 이 연구를 착수하게 된 동기이다. 어떤 교수방법이든지 그 속에는 방법의 특성을 이루며, 다른 것과 구별되어지는 변인이 있을 것이고, 그 변인들은 독립적으로 기능하는 것이 아니라 상호 유기적인 관계를 이루며 구현된다. 그렇다면, 학습자중심교육의 교수방법에는 어떤 변인의 특성이 있으며, 그리고, 어떤 교수전략을 수립해야 효율적이고 적합한 수업이 전개될 수 있는지가 밝혀져야 할 것이다. 따라서, 이 연구는 다음과 같은 연구목적을 가지고 진행되었다. 첫째, 교수방법을 총체적으로 이해하기 위한 교수변인을 규명한다. 둘째, 학습자중심 교수를 위한 변인별 특성을 분석한다. 셋째, 위의 내용을 토대로 학습자중심의 교수전략을 모색한다. 선행연구의 분석을 통해 교수방법의 유형이 결정되는 주요 변인으로 교사, 학습자, 교과목, 환경을 선정하고, 이를 준거로 학습자 중심교육의 특성과 교수전략을 모색해 보았다. 이 연구를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 즉, 학습자중심교육의 성공적인 도입과 활성화를 위해서는: 첫째, 교사의 교육관이 변해야 한다. 둘째, 교사에게 학습자중심교육을 위한 최적의 방법을 결정할 수 있는 자율권을 확보해 주어야 한다. 셋째, 학습자중심의 교육을 위해서는 환경의 변화가 요청된다. 넷째, 학습자중심교육의 정체성이 확립되어야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the instructional principles of learner-centered education. The following instructional approaches are suggested by the result of this study. First, teachers need to have a better understanding of the characteristics of their occupation. Pre-teachers who are willing to be a teacher have chances to make observations of experienced teachers\ teaching at practice schools. At this time, the important thing is what they have to observe. It is necessary to visit some schools for example, Eun Hyun elementary school which is willing to open their classrooms and shows various video tapes about all kinds of classroom teaching techniques by current teachers of the school at workshops. Second, educational researchers need to understand the urgent research areas. Their researches should be focused in teaching methodologies to improve instructional methods. They have also to concern some answers of current problems in educational context. Third, there should be a lot of information sharing between professional educators and non-professional one. As a example, principles of schools need to give feedbacks to their classroom teachers through teacher evaluations regularly. Forth, the development of discussion methods especially for Korean students is necessary and teachers should find the effective teaching styles for their students through \ experimental teaching\ experiences. Fifth, each classroom teachers need to develop their own identifiable teaching methods such as rug meeting, individual study, group study, project study, NIE activity, corner study, etc. These activities or methods have to increase students\ creativity and somehow related with open education.
