當代紅學의 多元化 현상에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

當代紅學은 ‘多元化’라는 키워드로 설명할 수 있으며, 본 논문은 당대홍학의 多元化 현상을 고찰하는 데 목적을 두었다. 오늘날의 세계는 多元化⋅大衆化⋅開放化를 특징으로 하고 있으며, 시장경제와 인터넷의 발달 및 포스트모더니즘의 성행은 그러한 현상을 加速化시키고 있다. 이러한 분위기 하에서 文學經典으로서의 《紅樓夢》도 이전과는 다르게 읽히고, 해석되며, 연구되는 커다란 변화에 직면하게 되었다. 이와 같은 변화 속에서 최근 십여 년 동안의 당대홍학계는 인터넷⋅TV⋅영화⋅출판 등의 다양한 대중매체에 힘입어 ‘紅學熱’이 조성되기도 하면서 번영의 국면을 맞고 있다. 당대홍학의 번영은 무엇보다도 《紅樓夢》에 대한 해석과 연구의 多元化에 기반하고 있다고 말할 수 있는데, 당대홍학의 多元化 현상은 다양한 流派의 共存과 相異한 집단의 형성을 통해 살펴볼 수 있다. 다양한 流派의 共存이라 함은 당대홍학의 主流를 이루고 있는 小說批評派 뿐만 아니라 考證派와 索隱派도 同時多發적으로 활발한 활동을 벌이고 있다는 것을 말하는 것이고, 相異한 집단의 형성이라 함은 지금까지 홍학계를 지배했던 主流紅學 혹은 學術紅學 이외에도 이와 대비되는 草根紅學⋅龍門紅 學⋅응용홍학⋅인터넷홍학 등의 大衆紅學 혹은 民間紅學 등의 출현을 말하는 것이다. 多數 의 집단에서 다양한 시각과 방식으로 《紅樓夢》을 해석⋅연구하고 있다는 것은 《紅樓夢》의 전파를 위해서는 바람직한 현상일 것이나, 그러한 多元化가 어떤 면에서는 당대홍학의 危機 를 초래하기도 한다. 본고에서는 이와 같은 당대홍학의 多元化 현상에 관해 긍정적 측면과 부정적 측면으로 나누어 고찰해보고자 하며, 궁극적으로 이를 종합하여 당대홍학의 현주소를 짚어보고 이를 토대로 향후 발전 방향에 대해 전망해보고자 한다.

영문 초록

A keyword that well explains Contemporary Redology is ‘diversification’. The purpose of this paper is to delve into the phenomenon of diversification of Contemporary Redology. It is diversification, popularization, and liberalization that feature today s world, and recent advances in the market economy and Internet as well as postmodernism expedite these processes. Under this atmosphere, one of literary classic, A Dream of Red Mansions, is recently confronting a huge change of being read, interpreted and investigated in a new, different perspective. This kind of change has led Contemporary Redology to see signs of booming thanks to the extensive coverage of mass media such as Internet, TV, movies and publications during the last decade. The booming of Contemporary Redology is based on diversification of interpretation and research of A Dream of Red Mansions. This can be examined through looking into coexistence of diverse schools and establishment of different groups. Coexistence of diverse schools means that not only the major school of Contemporary Redology, the novel criticism, but also others such as fact-searching researchers or textual researchers are taking active parts simultaneously. Establishment of different groups refers to the fact the popular Redology or folk Redology such as the Grass Roots Redology, the Dragon gate Redology, Application Redology, or Internet Redology emerged with the opposite view from the majority schools that dominated the academic circle of studies on A Dream of Red Mansions such as the Mainstream Redology or the Academic Redology. Diverse groups attempts to interpret and research A Dream of Red Mansions with different perspectives and methods is certainly a desirable phenomenon to spread A Dream of Red Mansions. However, diversification may cause crisis of Contemporary Redology in a certain way. The present paper aims to examine the positive and negative aspects of diversification of Contemporary Redology, synthesize findings to figure out the current status of Contemporary Redology, and finally foresee the prospect of future improvement.
