소셜벤처의 조직화와 제도화 과정에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 우리사회에서 발생하는 소셜벤처 창업의 특징과 그 제도화 과정에 대하여 질 적 방법론을 이용하여 연구한다. 소셜벤처는 창업가정신을 바탕으로 정보통신기술과 소셜네트워크의 기회를 활용하여 조직화된다는 점에서 보통의 기술‧비즈니스 벤처와 유사하지만 혁신적인 비즈니스 모델의 구현을 통해서 사회문제에 대한 새로운 접근방식과 해결책을 제시한다는 점에서 이들과 구별된다. 소셜벤처의 창업은 사회적 가치창출에 목표를 둔 지속가능한 비즈니스 모델의 제시와 이를 둘러싼 이해관계자의 역량 강화를 통해 이루어진다. 본 연구는 소셜벤처의 창업에서 나타나는 독특한 조직화의 특징을 파악하고 이해관계자와의 협업을 통하여 그에 적합한 제도적 환경을 구성하는 과정, 즉 ‘제도적 창업가정신’(institutional entrepreneurship)을 살펴본다. 이에 따라 제도적 창업가정신과 관련된 이론적 문헌을 살펴본 후, 이를 바탕으로 소셜벤처의 조직화 과정에 나타나는 혼종성(hybridity)과 공동체적 가치에 기반을 둔 문화적 정체성에 대해 기술한다. 그리고, 제도적 창업가정신의 관점에서 대학공동체와의 연계, 협업을 통한 이해 관계자의 조직화, 지역생태계와의 상호작용 및 협업을 통한 문화‧인지적 환경의 구성 등 네 가지 분야에서 소셜벤처의 제도적 환경을 구성하는 협업과정을 기술한다. 이를 통하여 비즈니스와 사회의 경계면에서 새롭게 형성되는 소셜벤처의 제도적 창업가정신의 기회와 도전에 대해 논의 한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the characteristics of social venture entrepreneurship and its institutionalizing process that occurs in South Korea using qualitative research methodology. A social venture is similar to a conventional venture as it utilizes business opportunities from the advancement of information technology and/or social network services but different from it as its innovative business models are geared toward providing solutions to social problems. A social venture emphasizes the sustainable business models for social value creation and the empowerment of relevant stakeholders in the entrepreneurial process. This study describes the distinctive characteristics of social venture organizing and then explores its institutional entrepreneurship in which actors construct the boundaries of institutional environments by collaborating with relevant stakeholders. After reviewing the theoretical literature on institutional entrepreneurship, this study examines two distinctive features of social venture: hybridity in organizing and community-mindedness in sense-making. Then, this study explores the collaborative processes of social venture actors and stakeholders in topical areas of college communities, stakeholder organizing, local ecosystems, and the construction of cultural-cognitive environments. Lastly, this study discusses the opportunities and challenges of social venture entrepreneurship for the business-society relationships in upcoming era.
