국문 초록

본 연구는 노인의 인터넷 활용능력을 증진하기 위한 실천적 방안을 모색 하기 위하여 노인의 인터넷 활용능력에 미치는 요인들에 대한 분석과 이 과정에서 교육수준의 조절효과를 검증하였다. 연구대상은 대구·경북에 거주하고 있는 인터넷을 이용하는 60세 이상 노인 총 233명이며, 자료 수집은 설문 조사를 통해 이루어졌다. 연구결과로 첫째, 노인은 자기계발과 정보수집에 인터넷을 활용하고 있었으며, 일상생활과 여가활동에 인터넷이 유용하다고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 노인의 인터넷 활용능력은 정보검색이 가장 높았지 만, 실생활에 관한 활용능력은 낮은 수준으로 나타났다. 셋째, 인터넷 활용 능력에 영향을 미치는 변수는 인터넷 유용성 인식, 인터넷 이용 빈도, 인터넷 이용욕구의 순이었고, 교육수준은 인터넷 이용욕구가 인터넷 활용능력에 미치는 영향에 조절효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 노인에게 인터넷 유용성을 인식하게 하는 교육이 제공되어야 하며, 특히 저학력 논인들에는 더 많은 인터넷 이용의 접근기회를 제공하는 것이 필요하 다는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study was designed to examine the factors affecting the ability to use internet among the elderly people, and the possible moderating effects of educational levels. A survey was done to include internet users aged 60 years and older, living in the Daegu and Kyungbuk areas. The results are as follows: First, elderly persons used the internet for self-improvement as well as information search, and they perceived the internet to be useful for their daily life. Second, elderly people were high-end users in searching information, but low-end ones in applying internet resources into their daily living. Finally, among variables, perceived internet usefulness was the most significant variable on the ability to use the internet among the elderly; and their educational levels turned out to be a moderating factor in the relationship between internet needs and ability to use the internet. The findings indicate that it is necessary to provide more training opportunities for the elderly in order to increase their perceived usefulness of the internet, in particular for those with lower educational status.
