국문 초록

『진양지』는 광해군 14년부터 인조 10년까지 이르는 시기에 성여신·하증·박민·조겸·정승훈·하협에 의해 공동 집필된 경상도 진주목의 읍지로서, 성립 이후 필사본의 형태로 보관되어 내려오다가 3세기 후에 이르러 비로소 출판된 것이다. 보관되어 오는 과정에서 내용상 어느 정도 변화가 진행되었으므로 그 정본을 확정하기가 어렵게 되었는데, 이러한 문제점은 출판에 즈음하여 구체적으로 드러나게 되었다. 1920년에 출판에 관한 결정이 이루어졌다. 그리하여 당시까지 여러 문중에 전해 내려오던 필사본들을 취합해 보니 모두 일곱 종이 있었는데, 이것들을 대조하여 정본을 만드는 책임은 하증의 후손인 하우식에게 맡겨졌다. 교정 작업이 끝난 다음, 하겸진의 검토를 거쳐 1922년에 활자본 4권 3책으로서 출판되었다. 이렇게 하여 출판된 原誌는 공편자들이 생존해 있었던 17세기 초까지의 사실만을 반영하고 있었기 때문에, 그 이후시기를 다루는 부분의 편집과 출판은 불가피한 것이었다. 그리하여 먼저 1927년에 진양지속수가 간행되었다. 원지 간행의 주체는 이 책의 출판 허가를 취소하기 위해 노력을 기울였으나 성공하지 못하게 되자, 결국 1932년에 『진양속지』를 발간하기에 이르렀다. 속지의 간행에 즈음하여 원지를 거듭 인쇄하였는데, 이 때 반질된 원지에는 20여 군데에 걸쳐 임의로 첨삭을 가한 부분이 있음이 발견되었다. 이는 인쇄한 후에 하수일 후손 집에 맡겨 보관해 두었던 동안에 그 집안사람인 하용수가 사사로이 고친 것이었다. 1964년 6월에 진주통지가 발행되었다. 진주통지는 당대를 중심으로 하여 과거 시대까지를 포괄하여 한글로 서술한 것이다. 기존의 진양지 및 진양속지는 자료의 섭취에 이용할 뿐 그것을 계승하지는 않고 독립된 체제를 갖춘 점에서 진양지속수의 경우와 유사하다. 이에 대항하여 1964년 7월에 「晋陽續誌發刊趣旨文」이 나왔다. 속지증보는 그로부터 3, 4년 후에 연활자본 진양지 4책으로서 결실을 맺게 되었다. 속지증보에 수록된 인물은 고종 초년부터 1962년까지로 하였다.

영문 초록

Jinyang-ji is the local topography of Jinju which was compiled by Seong Yeo-Sin, Ha Jeung, Park Min, Jo Gyeum, Jeong Seung-Hoon, and Ha Hyop between 1622 and 1632. It was preserved as a manuscript from the time of its materialization until its publication after the third century. The original text has become difficult to ascertain, as its contents have been altered somewhat during preservation; this problem became evident when it was published. The decision for publication was made in 1920. Seven copies were found when they collected manuscripts which had been preserved in various families. The responsibility to make the official copy was entrusted to Ha Woo-Shik, the descendant of Ha Jeung. After corrections was completed through examination by Ha Gyeum-Jin, the book was published in 1922 as a typography in 4 juan 3 books. As the original published text dealt only with facts prior to the early 17th century, during the time of the coeditors, the editions and publication of the periods thereafter were needed. As a result, Jinyangji-soksoo was published first in 1927. However, the main group that had published the original text tried to cancel the publication approval of this book; after these attempts proved to be futile, they finally published Jinyang-sokji in 1932. When Jinyang-sokji was published, they re-printed the original text. During the re-printing process, they found that there were over 20 sections which were amended arbitrarily in the original text. These amendments had been carried out in private after printing by Ha Yong-Soo, who was of the same family as a descendant of Ha Soo-Il during the time that the book had been preserved in their house. In June of 1964, Jinju-tongji was published. Jinju-tongji was written in Hangul, centering on the present age and covering up to the past time. It was similar to the Jinyangji-soksoo in that it not only adopted materials from Jinyang-ji and Jinyang-sokji without succeeding them, but also had the independent system. In contrast, The Purport of the Publication of Jinyang-sokji appeared in July of 1964. Finally, Sokji-jeungbo was published three or four years later as Jinyang-ji in four books of typography. Sokji-jeungbo recorded the characters from the early Gojong period until 1962.
