영문 초록

In order to reproduce the tidal currents at the strait between Kogum Island and Choyak Island locating at southwestern coast of Korea, depth averaged two dimensional numerical medel experiments were carried out. The flows in the strait are dominated by the tidal currents getting a to-and-fro motion. In flood, the water flows north, but in ebb it flows south along the strait between Dukdong-ri at the eastern coast of Kogum Island and Woodu-ri at the western coast of Choyak Island. About 300 cm/s(in flood)~400cm/s(in ebb) are assumed as the calculated maximum current velocities and found at the narrowest place of the strait. In the north and south areas of the strait, the current velocities show less than 50cm/s. The places where the currents are small are the northern and the southern coasts of the two islands, the lee sides of the main strong tidal currents
