자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀의 미래 성과에 대한 부모의 인식과 지원 욕구

국문 초록

연구는 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀를 둔 부모의 미래 성과에 대한 인식과 미래 성과를 달성하기 위해 필요하다고 생각하는 지원은 무엇인지 알아보고자 하였다. 미래 성과의 항목에 대한 중요도와 실현가능정도를 묻는 16개 문항과 지원 욕구를 묻는 1개의 개방형 질문으로 구성된 설문지를 연구 도구로 사용하였다. 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀의 부모가 작성한 총 383부의 설문지가 본 연구의 결과분석에 사용되었다. 그 결과, 첫째, 연구 참여자는 자녀의 미래 성과의 중요도와 실현가능정도에 대한 인식에서 차이를 보였으며, 실현가능정도보다 중요도를 높게 보는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀를 둔 아버지와 어머니는 미래 성과의 중요도에 대한 인식에 있어 유의미한 차이가 없었으나 실현가능정도에 대한 인식에는 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 어머니가 미래 성과의 실현가능정도를 더 높게 인식했다. 셋째, 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀를 둔 부모는 자녀의 연령, 장애정도, 통합여부에 따라 미래 성과의 중요도와 실현가능정도에 대한 인식에 있어 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 자녀를 둔 부모는 자녀가 미래 성과를 성취하기 위해서 성인기 직업 생활을 위한 진로 및 직업지원을 포함한 8개 항목의 지원이 필요하다고 응답한 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 전문가는 자폐 범주성 장애를 지닌 가족의 다양한 요구에 부합하고, 적극적인 가족 참여를 바탕으로 한 아동의 미래 성과를 위한 지원을 가족과의 협력을 바탕으로 제공해야 한다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the expectation of parents with children with autism spectrum disorders about their future outcomes and their support needs for that. The instrument used in this study was questionnaire that consisted of 16 items regarding the importance and likelihood of future outcome items based on earlier studies and one open-ended question concerning support needs. 383 parents were surveyed for this study. The findings of the study were as follows: (1) The parents of children with autism spectrum disorders had a higher opinion on the importance of it than its likelihood. (2) The fathers and mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders took a significantly different view of the likelihood of future outcome. (3) There were significant gaps among the parents in awareness of the importance and likelihood of future outcome according to some variables related to their children. (4) The parents were in want of the following things to ensure the children s future outcome: career education and vocational support, more educational opportunities, an increase in educational institutions for adults and local leisure facilities available, and so on. The above-mentioned findings of the study gave the following suggestions: First, family collaboration is mandatory for education for students with autism spectrum disorders. Second, the development and supply of universal and individualized support programs geared toward children with autism spectrum disorders are required. Third, a variety of support systems and arrangement of the welfare system should be prepared to help adults with autism spectrum disorders lead an independent life.
