영문 초록

This paper aims to analyze the spatial functional changes of the central business district and its Implications for urban regeneration in the case of Daegu Metropolitan city. This paper focuses on issues on whether the relationship of the central city and suburbs is substitute or complement. For this purpose this study examines urban growth, decline of central city and growth of suburbs. The main sources of attribute data are census data and Basic Business Survey data, both reported by National Statistical Office. All data are stored in geograghic information system. This paper finds that the relationship between the central city and suburb is substitute in terms of both population and employment. Based on this finding, this study discusses some policy implications for urban renewal projects.
