영문 초록

The author made a periodontal survey on 500 korean young adults (15-19 years) using CPITN, newly devised periodontal index by W.H.0., to detect prevalence of periodontal disease. Following results were obtained: 1. At the period of prevalence, gingivitis & mild peridontal disease was suggested to begin prior to 15yr. old child, and advanced periodontal disease with deep pocket formation was commonly appeared from 17yr. old, as 0% in the 15yr. & 16yr. old, 1% in 17yr., 18yr. and 19yr. old. 2. Prevalence of periodontal disease affected rate of korean young adult (15-19 years) was 64.6% while its nature was calculus deposit only(39%) without advanced peridontal disease. 3. Mean number of sextants affected were 1.57. 4. Percentage of young adult affected rate and mean number of sextants affected were as followed in age and sex group: In the sex group, girls(prevalence: 68%, mean number of sextants: 1.7) were higher than boys(prevalence: 61.2%, mean number of sextants: 1.44) slightly. In the age distribution, prevalence and mean number of sextants was increased with age. 5. Periodontal treatment requirement ratio showed 64.6% in oral hygiene instruction, 47.8% in prophylaxis and only 0.6% was reguired complex treatment. In the sex group, girls (O.H.I.: 68%, Prophylaxis: 53.6%) were higher than boys(O.H.I..61.2%, Prophylaxis: 42%) in requirement.
