영문 초록

This study was initiated to observe what, if any, changes of the number and morphology of Mast Cells, and Mucopolysaccharide of ground substance take place in lamina propria of tongue and buccal mucosa of Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The results were as follows. 1. Mast Cell density was decreased markedly in experimental group. 2. Mast Cell density of the tongue was larger than that of the buccal mucosa in both normal and experimental group. 3. The populations of mast cells were not changed in accordance with the experimental time intervals. 4. The periodic acid-Schiff s reaction for mucopolysaccharide was increased at first in a few days in experimental group, but not prominent after 7 days. 5. The pancreatic islet cells, especilly β cells, were degenerated and necrosed in experimental groups.
