영문 초록

The basic objectives of this study were : to analyze the current state of rural labor change from 1992 to 2002, and to make a few suggestions on how this problem rural labor could be alleviated. In order to achieve these objectives, raw data were collected 197 farming households in 1992 and 142 farming households in 2002, which were selected based on four criteria, namely 1) islands, 2) mountainous area, 3) open field area, and 4) suburban area. The major results of this study could be summarized as follows; ① The number of labor force is decreasing in the rural communities. Besides, The quality of labor force available is deterioration as well in terms of age, sex and educational level. ② Educational and training programs of young people on actual farms are necessary to improve the quality of new farmers. ③ New development of farming machines which meet the particular needs in various farming conditions is highly desired. ④ Extension of farming period and re-adjustments in basic scheme of agriculture should be considered in order to improve the current farm households labor problems. ⑤ Cooperative working system, which could utilize the existing organizations such as women s club, youth fellowship, etc. should be developed in the rural area.
