영문 초록

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the adoption of Chinese tangak and aak during the Koryo Dynasty which had a great impact on the formation of Korean traditional music. During the Koryo period, music of the Sung China was actively imported and fostered, especially during the era of three Kings, Kwangjong(949-75), Munjong(l046-83) and Yejong(l114). Music introduced at that time was mainly large-scale vocal pieces and widely used for various court ceremonies. Taesung aak of the Sung China was introduced in June of the 11th year of King Yejong (1116), yet it was quickly adopted in the court rituals in a very short period of time. Such a sudden adoption of Chinese music could have been due to religious reasons. The introduction of Chinese tangak and aak coincides with the flourishing of Confucianism in Koryo at that time. The author conjectures that Koryo intended to establish the teachings of Confucianism through music.
