We can call western music, a music of harmony, korean traditional music can be called a music of melody. So it is said that the western music is the thing of width, korean traditional music is that of length. Lengthwise music is less grand or splendid, but lovely, beautiful like as enjoy oriental painting. And it has charming also for it spring out the energy of life. Moreever, each sound of melody has a inner life energy and self-sufficiency, so they regarded as great important elements, such delicate tones, and dynamics. I reached conclusion as following statement, through analysis and inquiry about the ornament marks of korean traditional music. 1. Ornament marks will become various and complex in the future, specially it is thought that there will be much change of melody gradually, by performer s individuality and sence of art. 2. Comparing ornament marks of UCHOSHIN-SANGYONGSAN that of fifty years before with now,. modern one has a lot of change of melody for there was creation of various ornament marks. 3. Decoration melody sounds are not created any tone, but created a regular tone with regular order. 4. There was ma ny ornament marks specially the tone of tone of LIM (B) and TAI (F) in SANGYONGSAN. 5. There are the important element of playing technique like as the place of breath, vibration sound, and dynamics. 6. There become created a lot of ornament marks in Korean traditional music by period, player s sence of art, and music notation. 7. About the kind of ornament marks through UCHOSHIN-SANGYONGSAN, there are 22 kinds of after decorative ornament marks, 13 kinds of before, and 12 kinds of middle. And there are 43 before decorative ornament marks of the sound of TAI(F) through whole piece. 8. Comparing KIMYOBO (a musical note which collected and made the year of KIMYO)which made fifty years before, with KUGAKOBO (the high musical note of Korean classical music)which made lately, except the part of creation by difference of musical notation, ornament marks is created as following diagram.
