영문 초록

Medical tourism, a typical area of convergence tourism, is a combined tourism industry of medical appointment and treatment and accommodation service. Nowadays, this industry tends to focus on developing medical tourism products tailored to regional characteristics by cooperating with a local government. Considering this trend, the rest-type medical tourism is worth noting. That’s because the rest-type medical tourism utilizing various tourism resources, including accommodation, convenient transport service, beautiful landscapes, sports activities, and traditional culture, is closely related with regional characteristics, thereby corresponding to the well-being trend pursued by people today. In this respect, this research examined good cases for the improvement of values of medical and tourism services based on recreational infrastructure and sought for the methods for introducing the rest-type medical tourism with its focus on using resorts. This research aims to effectively use resorts as a hub for the mutual growth of regional tourism industry and medical industry, create a differentiated value never seen in existing resorts, and promote physical and psychological relaxation of tourists in the long term in order to present a tourism paradigm which contributes to a higher quality of life.
