국문 초록

페트레 이스피레스쿠는 유년 시절에 불안한 사회와 가정의 가난으로 공교육을 받지 못했다. 학교생활을 할 나이에 돈을 벌었고, 인쇄기술을 배웠다. 주경야독하고 고군분투하면서 1862년 부모님으로부터 들은 이야기를 채록한 것들을 문학지에 처음 실었다. 인쇄를 통해 당대 최고의 작가들과 협업하면서 설화나 민담을 모아 채록하고 직접 출판까지 하였다. 하지만 루마니아 한림원은 이스피레스쿠가 공교육을 받지 못했고, ‘창작성’에 기반을 둔 작가가 아닌 이유를 들어 단순한 이야기 채록자로 간주하였다. 사후에 오도베스쿠의 청원으로 그의 노력과, 열정 그리고 설화모음집은 한림원에서 공식적으로 인정받았다. 인쇄업자이 자 이야기 채록자는 1882년 인생 최고의 역작이자 시대를 뛰어넘어 사랑받고 읽힌 설화모음집 Legendele sau basmele românilor을 출판하였다. 부쿠레쉬티출신인 작가는 이야기를 서민의 말투, 구어체로 정리하였다. 그의 이야기는 정 확하고 잘 읽히며, 진정성 있고 ‘서민적’이다. ‘서민의 입에서 모은’ 것을 통찰력있게 구체화하였다. 그가 채록한 설화는 두 개의 플롯으로 짜여 있어서 이야기 시작에서 발생한 사건이 결말에 도달하면, 다른 사건이 발생하고 전단계보다 더 힘든 과정을 거쳐 최종 결말에 도달한다. 또는 이야기의 결말을 먼저 보여주고 결론이 나기까지의 과정을 보여준다. 주인공은 남성으로 한정되지 않고 여성도 남성과 똑같은 과정을 거친다. 특히 많은 설화에서 처음에 남성이 주인공으로 등장하는 듯하지만, 이야기가 진행되면서 여성이 이야기를 이끄는 주도적인 역할을 감당한다. 고대 루마니아에서 전승되는 세계관과 천오백년이 넘는 크리스교적 신앙관이 잘 드러나 있다. 설화는 단순하고 재미있는 이야기의 헤피 엔딩에 머무르지 않고, 채록가의 의도에 따라 교훈적이고 종교적인 결말을 맺는다. ‘서민의 입에서 모으고 인쇄업자인자 이야기 채록자를 통해 세상에 나온’ 설화모음집은 루마니아 각 가정에 있어야 하는 ‘가보’의 가치를 지닌다.

영문 초록

Through 1830 s and 1840 s Romania had struggled to get free from 3 dominant principates. Petre Ispirescu had no chance to get public education due to social unrest and his own poverty. He had to earn a living at school years and went apprentice as a publisher. He worked during the day and studied at night and managed to publish his first stories collected from his parents. Favored by his printing business he could intercourse with the prominent writers of the time and published the collected tales. The Romanian Academy did not accept him as a genuine writer despising him as uneducated and uncreative. Posthumously he was recognized officially as a writer for his efforts, passion and folk tales collection by way of Odobescu’s appeal. As a publisher and collector of tales he published the collection of folk tales which was welcomed nationally at 1882. Born at Bucharest he stylized it colloquially with the tone of common people’s. His storytelling was precise, understandable, genuine and popular. He gave shape to the stories which was taken from ‘ordinary people s mouth’. These stories are well organized sagas and every story has two different adventures. It shows the ending first and explains what happened later. The initial story ends and the second one, which has more ups and downs, starts and reaches the finale. The main characters are not only men but also women and they get through hardships equally. We can notice that many stories takes man as a main character but takes woman as a leading role at the later part of them. Traditional views about the world from ancient rumanian ancestors are reflected and christian beliefs of 1,500 year’s old are easily detected. Each story does not satisfied with mere happy endings but it contrives more constructive and moral ones intentionally. The collection of folk tales which is recorded by ‘the publisher from common people s mouth and it is considered nearly as family treasure among Romanian people.
