『周易』陰陽對待觀의 書畵美學的 考察

국문 초록

『周易』은 道를 ‘一陰一陽’하는 우주 만물의 운동 변화 법칙으로 보고 있다. 이와 같은 陰과 陽의 對待적 작용을 근거로 한 만물의 ‘生生’이 바로 『周易』의 원리이다. 이는 『周易』이 ‘太極이 兩儀를 낳고 兩儀가 四象을 낳고 四象이 八卦를 낳는 다.’고 본 우주만물의 본원에 대한 인식 태도에 기초한다. 이러한 『周易』의 生生적 美意識은 天地의 美는 生命에 기탁하여 충만한 生意와 찬연한 活力에 있고 生命의 美는 創造에서 드러나며 生氣와 創意에 있다는 사유이다. 결국 氣韻이 生動하여 자연의 성대한 生意를 표현하는 것이 東洋의 書畵 藝術이 공통적으로 추구하는 것인데 이러한 점이 『周易』의 生生思想과 書畵藝術이 그 基底를 함께하는 부분이다. 이처럼 天과 人에 대한 造化的 인식을 토대로 만물의 生을 이끌어내는 것은 자연의 對待적 원리이다. 동양미학은 이러한 화해의 내재적 근거, 즉 대립하는 쌍방에는 내재적인 공통성이 있다고 파악한다. 東洋에서는 陰과 陽을 동시에 존중하고 이것이 조화롭게 작용하는 것을 중요하게 생각했다. 이와 같은 對待論은 書畵美學에서 虛實相應論으로 展開게 되는데 이는 書畵藝術作品의 기법적 요소뿐만 아니라 형태와 정신 등의 문제로 다양하게 나타났다.

영문 초록

The Book of Changes considers the Way as the law of move and change of all things that yin and yang move successively. The principle of the Book of Changes is the Production and Reproduction of all things based on the correlative effects of yin and yang. It is based on the attitude to recognize the origin of all things in the universe as the Book of Changes says that there is the Great Ultimate, it generates the Two Modes (yin and yang), the Two Modes generate the Four Forms (major and minor yin and yang), and the Four Forms generate the Eight Trigrams. The consciousness of beauty for the Production and Reproduction in the Book of Changes is the thought that the beauty of heaven and earth is based on an abundant will to live and a full vitality and depends on the life and the beauty of life is based on the energy of life and creativity and emerges through the creation. Thus, East Asian calligraphy and paintings aim at expressing an abundant will to live of the nature as the atmosphere is full of vitality, and it is the feature that the thought of the Production and Reproduction in the Book of Changes has in common. To draw the Production of all things based on the harmonious consciousness of heaven and human is the correlative principle of the nature. This correlative perception includes the thought that yang exists in yin and yin exists in yang. It is a main feature related to opposition and unity in East Asian philosophy. East Asian aesthetics recognizes the immanent basis of harmony that two opposite things have an immanent common ground.
