여성간의 차이와 노인여성운동의 가능성

국문 초록

이 연구는 여성간의 차이를 인식하고 노인여성의 위치와 권리를 고찰한다. 선행연구에서는 노인, 여성의 범주에서 노인여성의 시민권을 설명해 왔지만 충분하지 않았다. 이연구는 노인여성운동의 가능성을 살펴봄으로써 노인여성들이 자신의 정체성을 인식하고 권리를 주장해야 할 필요성과 함의를 탐색한다. 노인단체들은 유교문화의 연령적 위계하에서 젊은이에게 충고하고 자기이해에 몰두해 왔다. 또한 이들은 정치적 보수성과 비민주적인 태도를 견지해 왔다. 하지만 소수의 노인단체는 노인의 소외된 위치를 인식하고 동등한 시민으로서 권리를 주장하면서 사회정의를 위해 연대한다. 또한 노인단체에서 여성 회원들은 남성들의 인정을 받기 위해 노력하고 보조적 역할을 수행하는 한편, 남성들과 동등하게 일자리를 확보하기 위해 노력해 왔다. 한편, 여성단체들은 노인여성의 쟁점을 부차적으로 다뤄 왔지만, 여성문제를 노년기로 확장하고 있다. 여성단체들은 노인여성의 폭력 피해와 가난을 인식하고 인권과 노동권을 위해 투쟁해 왔다. 또한 노년기 준비 교육과 여성 건강 교육을 통해 여성주의 관점에서 나이듦에 대한 통합적인 접근을 시도해 왔다. 노인여성들은 여성단체 내에서 소모임을 활성화하고 독자적인 여성단체를 구성함으로써 노인여성의 쟁점을 공론화해야 한다. 또한 여성단체들은 노인단체와 소통함으로써 관련 쟁점들을 해결할 필요가 있다. 노인여성은 권리의 주체로서 자신의 목소리를 내야하고 사회적으로 이들이 목소리를 낼 수 있는 장치를 마련해야 한다. 이것은 여성을 임파워하고 연령차별, 성차별을 시정함으로써 민주주의 발전에 기여한다.

영문 초록

This research recognizes the difference among women and considers the positions and the rights of old women. The previous researches have not explained about citizenship of old women in the category of old people or women thoroughly. This study explores the necessity and meaning that old women should recognize their identity and insist their rights by examining the possibility of feminist activism for old women. Senior groups under the Confucian hierarchy of age have advised young people and focused on self-interest. They pursue the political conservatism and the undemocratic attitude. However, a minority of groups recognize the isolated position of old people and insist the rights as equal citizens and band together for justice of society. The female members in senior activism have tried to achieve recognition from men and to take the role of helping men. Moreover, they have tried to secure their jobs, as equally as men. Korean feminist groups that have secondarily dealt with old women's issues are expanding women’s issues to old age. They have struggled for human rights and labor rights, recognizing their poverty and damage from violence. They also have attempted the holistic approach to aging from feminist perspective through education on preparation for old age and women's health. Old women should raise their issue by activating the small gathering within feminist groups and constructing the independent feminist groups. Feminist groups need to solve the issues by communicating with senior groups. Old women should recognize themselves as the subject of rights and have voice, and the social setting should provide to make them heard. This dedicates to the development of democracy by empowering women and correcting the ageism and gender discrimination.
