국문 초록

본 연구는 농학교에서 이루어지는 수어사용 실태를 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 최근 농교육 현장에서 논의의 중심에 있는 수어연수 방법 및 수어능력 인증제에 관한 농학교 교사의 인식을 알아보는 데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국의 농학교 교사 130명을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 농학교에서는 의사소통으로 수어와 구화를 동시에 가장 많이 사용되고 있었다. 둘째, 농학교 교사 대부분이 수어연수와 수어능력 인증제에 대하여 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으며, 실기 위주의 단계별(초ㆍ중ㆍ고급) 수어와 교육용 수어를 배우고 싶어 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 수어능력 인증제의 성공적인 정착을 위해서는 연수 프로그램의 다양화가 절실히 요구된다는 의견이 많았으며, 수어능력 인증제가 본래의 목적에서 벗어나 승진 가산점으로 적용되는 것에는 반대하고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 반영하여 농학교 교사들의 자발적 수어연수 참여를 유도하고 수어능력 향상에 실질적으로 도움을 줄 수 있는 체계적이고 효과적인 수어연수 프로그램과 수어능력 인증제의 개설이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the status of sign language use in schools for the deaf and examine teachers' perceptions of sign language training methods and sign language certification system, which are at the center of debates in recent deaf education sites. For this study, a survey was conducted with 130 teachers in schools for the deaf all over the country and the study findings are as follows. First, sign language and oral language were used the most for communication in schools for the deaf. Second, most teachers in schools for the deaf had positive perceptions of sign language training and sign language certification system and wanted to learn about practical skill-oriented phased(beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels) sign language and sign language for education. Third, many teachers replied that various training programs should be developed for successful establishment of sign language certification system and opposed the application of sign language certification system as an additional point for promotion that isn't the original purpose. These study findings demonstrate that there is a need to develop a systematic and effective sign language training program and a sign language certification system to promote voluntary participation of teachers in schools for the deaf in sign language training and help in improving sign language skills.
